I didn't hear anything describing an actual "Mistake"... this is the cost of research. We know ARV will benefit from knowledge and understanding gained by building this prototype even if it didn't result directly in a system that could be put into production. We appreciate all you do to advance the state of the art in your vans.

I think one of my most favorite things about your company is the amount of time, energy.... and money that you put into development of new products or testing of other new products, before they are fully implemented into full production. To me that is why you are truly getting full value for every $ spent in a custom order.. xoxo Randolph

Hey Mike, thanks for sharing! I have always been a huge proponent of organic lithium-ion phosphate batteries, but there is a maximum weight limit that we can carry in our custom vans as well. What I have in my van is one with naturally safe chemistry paired with an internal shut down curtain technology inside each lithium cell, preventing any flame or explosion from thermal runaway events. Happy holidays!

i cant figure out what people are doing in these things to need more than 10 kwh. Then of course the bigger battery the longer the engine has to run to charge it with the 2nd alternator.
@dlg54852 жыл бұрын
Since you're driving to your destination anyway, the engine will be running regardless, so that doesn't make a lot of sense. The benefit to more capacity is longer battery life after you arrive at your destination, which means you can have less solar (or none at all) and still have plenty of power for all of your needs.
@CJ301232 жыл бұрын
@@dlg5485 you guys drive everyday? Whats the point of a vacation then? Have you ever done the math on how long you have to drive to charge even a 10kwh pack? Let alone 15kwh? For a 10kwh pack it would be around 3 hours of drive time with the max 2nd alternator on the market which is 280 amps per hour. 4.5 hours for a 15kwh battery. 6 hours for 20kwh. And keep in mind this assume high rev driving not idling. I can make a safe bet that few people even consider this. All just to run the A/C. So strange to me but people will waste money how they see fit.

@@CJ30123 they do make 24v and 48v alternators as well.
@dlg54852 жыл бұрын
@@nashdashflash I think ARV only installs 48 volt systems now. This is likely why their systems perform better than what is available off the shelf.
@CJ301232 жыл бұрын
@@DC-ul3wq Volta actually uses a smaller amperage alternator running at higher voltage. 120 amps at 48v. This slightly lowers charge time. 2 hours for 10kwh. 3 hours for 15kwh. And again this is high rev drive time. Idle time is much longer. Simple math.

Why not use VOLTA ?
@dlg54852 жыл бұрын
I suspect it is less expensive to design and build their own battery systems, as opposed to buying a costly system off the self. ARV can also be more innovative in their design, ultimately arriving at something that is better than pre-packaged systems. I believe ARV also installs 48 volt systems, not the typical 12 volt.
@CJ301232 жыл бұрын
They likely want a custom physical size more than anything. And since it appears they are fully building their own batteries from individual cells they are saving tons of money which means more profit.
