I have it if the players kill the Roc That Auril can later bond with Arviaturace over their shared lonelyness and become her new rider this makes a horrifying encounter if you go beyond the lvl cap and want to have a return of Auril as the true bbeg.

One of the dwarves from the foaming mugs quest is written as being deathly afraid of dragon's. I changed that to being terrified of Arveiaturace and if the PCs ask about the dwarf his obvious paranoia he mentions/for shadows the white wyrm

This provides a whole lot more depth and a more interesting dragon than the interpretation I was originally going to run for Arveiaturace. I was planning for a senile ancient dragon but this is a much better personality to apply to them and wouldn't have known that without this video.

I was just looking for this video yesterday and this is really interesting, I'll definitely consider all of this information and what's in the article when running her, and I like your logic where you said we can have her as if she grew out of the eating of humanoids. Also I do remember you saying there's another NPC in chapter 2 that deserves their own video, I forgot who but I'm ready for whichever NPC or creature you deem worthy of their own video! Keep it up.

Arviaturace actually became my character’s friend which the dm went more into during the epilogue of our campaign (yeah I’ve already finished Frostmaiden). My character mostly did this by their party removing the intense weather that the Frostmaiden had created over the dragon’s lair, trying to trap her their. She wasn’t too concerned but the fact that we removed the bad weather for her for no real reason than being petty towards the goddess did convince Arviaturace into indulging us with a discussion. My character and our party left tribute (some high level magic items that weren’t compatible with any of our builds but seemed up her ally) and I had my character specifically offer to craft potions in the future at the dragon’s request. I’m exchange for that last one Arviaturace offered to allow us to harvest parts my character might need from her kills that she stored in her lair. And the last thing my character did is what ended up solidifying their friendship. My character asked about kobold care. Earlier in the campaign our party had adopted a group of kobolds which we had run our inn. The number of kobolds kept increasing though as we adopted more and the group began to breed over time. So close to around that time, the party had 20+ kobolds back home, only one npc one that joined us on adventures. This is why I had my character ask. I think I threw my dm for loop but one that amused him enough that he said Arviaturace became amused too. The pair had a long conversation on it. By the end, my character offered to build a shelter for the dragon close to the town where the inn (party homebase) was located and said they would be happy to keep her company there if she ever wished to visit. And even if they weren’t available, the kobolds would gladly do so. So when the campaign ended, the epilogue covers my character requesting the assistance of the arch mages they rescued to help build this and discussing it with the speaker so the town knew how to treat their draconic guest. Dm says the town became fond of the dragon and many people would keep her company whenever she visited, with the locals being particularly protective of the dragon if outsiders tried to make trouble for her. My character, being a young elf at the start of the campaign, would regularly spend time with Arviaturace during their long lifespan until they passed away. When that happened the Ten Towns, as requested by my character, gave over his body to Arviaturace who took him to her lair and entombed him there. She kept her promises to him by making sure the Ten Towns did not worship the Frostmaiden, would drive out Lolth worshippers, would be kind to Eilistraee worshipers, and would, in time, hand over my character’s weapons to protect Ten Towns to a worthy hero if she judged them to be such. My dm says that one of her later hatchlings was even named after my character in honor of their friendship. And that was the epilogue. Frankly I found it sweet that a dragon who is known to be lonely bonded into a lifelong friendship with my character who started the campaign wanting to overcome his social anxiety. And I I made clear that my character never once insisted on Arviaturace becoming their mount. Only if the dragon offered, would my character accept. He was always respectful and thoughtful when it came to his dragon friend, regularly bringing her stories and tribute and listening to her and sharing word on if he found a good hunting spot (he was a ranger). And if anyone caused his dragon friend trouble? My character became deeply protective and wielded their influence as the protecter of Ten Towns to gladly look after her. That isn’t to say that Arviaturace ever became a “good” chromatic dragon, but she suited and fit in with the culture of the Ten Towns and the locals became fond of her for it and she, because they went out of their way to ease her loneliness and were respectful, would look after them in turn. So…more or less the entirety of Ten Towns became her hoard 😂 Just felt like sharing. It’s been a while since that campaign ended and I really did appreciate the story and just loved that this npc became such a great part of my own character’s part of the epilogue.

@@sharkoj funny thing. The backstory I wrote to get her my dm loved it but she started over as an egg (backstory reasons) and somehow hatched a s a red dragon and now is medium sized at almost lv 6. (currently using drakenwarden stats for now). Lets just say her and me have a curse to prevent our true selves from appearing. Basically, he told me at like lv 17 once he has me gather whatever he thinks is needed for a ritual we both will turn into true dragons and kinda have a nice ending to those characters. Though will still be able to play them in one shots or something. The world and era my dm has is when dragons were forced to be certain alignment based on color not how fizbans changed it. But my red dragon the exception. I also taught her how to speak and write and read and strategize for battles lol. Since she doesnt have opposable thumbs and cant grip stuff she has to use her tail and maw for gripping.
