The fault is not with Pakistan but with Islam. Look at all the free countries of the world. In India, France, Britain etc., people live without fear. Though every religion in the world teaches tolerance, in Islam it is non-existant. Therefore, there is no introspection or tolerance in Islamic countries. Islamic countries cannot tolerate cultural, religious, dialictical or another form of diversity. Any one who does not agree is termed an enemy and they are eliminated. This is similar to Communism where opponents are done away with. Even in our states of India which is a Hindi majority country under democratic system, wherever there is Muslim majority area, an attempt is made to make the minority to conform the majority dictates. If the Muslims live eithin a Hindi majority area, a move is made to emigrate to Muslim majority area or to form a majority by aquisition of land for settlement. The fact that Muslims have flourished in India is a tribute to Indian/Hindu tolerance. The emigration of Hindus, Sikhs, Ahmedias and Shias from Pakistan to other countries speaks eloquently on Islamic fundamentalism and intolerance.

There are rogue elements in Pakistan, who at various times in its history have caused a huge loss to the nation for their personal benefit. There are hawks in the military, amongst politicians, in their religious groups. These hawks have been eating into the vitals of the Pakistani state for too long, causing immense damage to it's institutions. Almost all their politicians have hobnobbed with the military till now to settle scores with each other. Real democracy was never allowed to flourish. But what is more intriguing, is the fact that the civil society of Pakistan is in deep slumber. Why aren't they raising their voice against all this ? Don't they remember that even Musharraf was forced to give up power when the country wide lawyers campaigned against him ? The intellectual, enlightened, educated community in Pakistan has to stand up and be counted. Nhi to bahut daer ho jayegi !
