It's amazing the way Maisie Williams has been able to grow and mature Arya so gradually from a heartbroken child into a confident serial killer. You don't even notice until you look back from season 7 to season 1.

I wouldn't classify her as a serial killer. A serial killer kills to satisfy some sadistic, misguided purpose in their mind, randomly selecting their victims, usually people they have no connection with. Arya killed to even a score in world where the rules are skewed by it's cruelty to the weak. She's more like a mosad agent taking out terrorist targets that have commited acts of terror against his/her country/people.

Cycle of Life Actually, she would definitely be considered a serial murderer. There are different types of serial killers, not just sadistic, pleasure-seekers like what you're describing, that kind is called Hedonistic. Arya would be Mission-Oriented (justify their acts as "ridding the world" of certain type of person, usually attempting to change society). The other main types are Visionary (psychotic, example would be killing because God told them to), Lust (sex-motivated), Thrill-Seekers (murder for thrill of kill), Profit (material/monetary gain), Power/Control (self explanatory, they kill to control). Arya's kind of like a vigilante, she's achieving a goal in the form of justified revenge killing against those who have done wrong & harmed others.

I'd say Arya killing off the monsters (actual serial killers) who are still *very actively* destroying/killing (her and) her family and anyone else as they please, with no intentions of stopping is entirely different from your average "serial killer" vigilantes like Oliver Queen etc. The only way to stop being hunted is to become the hunter. She did that and went on with her life with her remaining family and saved the entire human race while at it.

J Q you're right, vigilante probably wasn't the best word, but i still would describe her as being a mission-oriented killer. she's definitely not psychotic or lust-driven. maybe power/control would also kinda fit? power/control killers seek psychological power over their victim, are very patient when it comes to hunting them, etc., but they also find the most pleasure from the kill itself, & like you said, her mission is to protect herself, her family, & those she cares about. hm.. this is an interesting conversation lol, which one of those would you describe her as?

I'm a year late, but I agree. This was a very well done video. It's great to see the expressions on Arya's face as she kills each one in turn. The first few are fairly sloppy, and she is in a rage. Later, both before and after her Faceless training, she becomes far more calm about the killings. Not cold blooded, not gloating or relishing it like Cersi would be, but controlled and purposeful.

I totally i agree, but i think it might have been because grabbing another sword would require him to kneel in front of an opponent. Syrio might have seen it as dishonorable, or just didn't feel comfortable giving his opponents an opening.

Well, word is, Syrio might have never been killed. He might have give just enough of a fight to the men so Arya can make her escape, and then he knocked them out and went on his way, and his been watching over Arya ever since. He could very well be Jaqe h'ghar himself. This show likes to play with mystics, magic, prophesies and the like. I could totally see the faceless people playing with magic and prophecies, and perhaps Arya is one of those that they have to protect and guide on her purpose in life. She survived multiple knife stabbings to the stomach. Can't seem to survive something like that without magic or Gods itervening, like with Belric, Jon Snow, Danaerys and the Hound.

WOW! Thank you so much for creating that!! I can only imagine the work it took to edit all of that together just right. You really are incredibly talented! Are you involved in filmmaking? Your montage "Arya's List" is exceptional: it shows the POWERFUL evolution of GRRM's character from the cheeky, high-spirited, strong willed but sweet little girl she was (in the Pilot) to the cold, frighteningly calculating and totally focused predator/ murderess who Arya becomes and WHY by the end of season 6. The majority of us (all humans, that is) would fall apart at any of the steps in her story but she grows stronger ( she must wall off her feelings in order to survive...) all the Starks go through absolute hell… In my opinion though, this little girl, Arya goes through the worst after her family is blown apart to the four winds. Yes, all the Starks suffer, but Arya is exposed to the absolute worst part of humanity almost every single day of her life and this is a kid we're talking about !! Just the assurance that the basic needs for life will be met is something Arya never has, and with her strong personality: The suffering, the heartbreak caused by the murder of her father, Syrio, and friends she makes on her way to the Wall are all key to the astounding change that you manage to show in "Arya's List". I wonder if you could do anything with this? To show your obvious talent. I wish you much luck!

I'm not sure if H'gar should've been on this list. First off, she never intended to have him on it, as naming him was simply a way to assure his help in escaping; you'll notice that in none of her recitations does she say his name. Also, given that H'gar was just an identity, and that the Faceless Men have no identities of their own, it's arguable that the person she met in Braavos was an entirely different person, especially when you consider that after he drinks the poison and dies, the Waif assumes his identity herself.

I wish the tickler's death had been like it was in the books. Arya stabs him in the back multiple times while shouting all the questions the ticker had asked the villagers. In the show his death was kind of lame; he just took a poison dart in the neck and died instantly.

The tickler didn't take a poison-dart in the neck, that was Armory Lorch. Jaquen broke the neck of the Tickler and threw him off the wall.

I didn't notice it till multiple watches but the ticklers head was turned completely around on his body, it WAS a painful death. Look again closely, watch how his hands are facing the ground but his head is staring up at the sky. Very quickly shown but its there.

This is what I take issue, when Jaqen takes the poison & she pulls of the faces, it looks to me like an adult version of Arya's face. Maybe she did became No One by passing that trial & didn't even realise it; maybe that's why he shrugged, it's all the same to him where No One chooses to live as long as the work gets done. This would mean Arya is just wearing her own face all the time. Magic... I could even throw a Muppet and a Ninja Turtle in there & still somehow make sense...
