After Long Long Time - DECCAN QUEEN's Killer Early Winter Morning Journey From Pune To Mumbai !!!!!!

Locomotive hauling my train was 6350HP Kalyan WAP-7# 39045. Pune departure was 07:15am, Dadar arrival at 10:15am in 3Hrs. It was only 5mins late that day, otherwise this train is on an average 15-20mins late and sometimes even over 30mins late. The description can be read as follows;
1) In slight morning fog and chill, 12124 Pune Mumbai Csmt Superfast Deccan Queen terrificly skips Khadki at 110kph.
2) Speeding through Dapodi at over 100kph.
3) Speeding through Dehu Road at over 100kph.
4) Speeding through Begdewadi at sunrise at over 100kph.
5) Terrific skip of Ghorawadi at 110kph.
6) Speeding through Vadgaon at over 100kph.
7) Capturing early morning sun and skip of Malavli at over 100kph.
8) Ghats coverage begins - Departing from Khandala, taking a huge curve, going under over 2km long tunnel, coverage of under construction Missing Link Project and some more curves too.
9) Skipping Karjat
10) Speeding through Dombivli at over 100kph.
11) Terrificly speeding through Mulund.
12) View of Dining Car, parallely racing with Mumbai Csmt Slow Local Train and skipping Kurla with smooth acceleration.
13) Entering into Dadar railway station at 10:15am.
I have always in the past been reaching Dadar on an average 15-20mins late but after long long time experienced a terrific Deccan Queen early morning run.

With WAP-7 loco and LHB coaches, the speed also increased. But many people prefer the old classic looks of it with WCAM-3 locos.

@@soumyaburmanroy1081 Thanks a lot. You are right with Wap7 5lph extra speed comes but now from the time orders have come to scrap wcam3, maintenance is no longer like before. Thats why performance of wcam3 has come down

Very rare to see P7 on DQ. Mostly WCAM-2 or WCAM-3

@@aniketsawant2240 Thanks a lot. Indeed lucky to get Wap7. Once upon a time wcam3 maintenance used to be top notch and acceleration on par with Wap7 but now since RB has called for scrapping of wcam2 and wcam3, maintenance had gone down. Better to give DQ, intercity express also Wap7

Another question, the train appeared to be on the wrong track or am I wrong? And was the other track a spare one for emergency use ?And do the Pune bound trains use another route through the ghats?

Thanks a lot. At Monkey Hill signal cabin, there were triple descending WAG7 breakers on third line, thats why from Lonavala we got mid line. If we got the third line then we would have skipped Monkey Hill halt

I saw your replies on other comments that WCAM 2 & 3 about to be scrapped, but why and any idea when WCAM 3 will be phased out completely ? Is that the reason why Tapovan Mahalaxmi Panchavati Express are now hauled by a P4 instead of WCAM?

Thanks a lot. WCAM2 are as good as gone now. WCAM3 21936 is scheduled to be scrapped. Remaining will be scrapped in phases.

While it is unsettling that a critical train like the DQ is invariably late at BBVT, does the delay only start once it hits Mumbai suburban traffic or is it from Pune itself ?

Thanks a lot. On Pune - Lonavala route, mostly from Lonavala 5-7mins late, Lonavala to Karjat takes 45-50mins, Karjat mostly passes at 09:00am and later from ulhasnagar to kalyan, we trail local trains, sometimes from Thane we trail local trains and from Ghatkopar we actually crawl behind local trains. Even at Dadar outer, we take halts. Since delay happens mostly in ghats and slight delay from lonavala, it adds up.

@arzan1980 While delays due to suburban traffic are understandable, why should there be delay on the Pune Lonavla run ? Relativeky speaking the traffic is lower there.

@@peterasp1968 There is terrific freight on that route. Many times freights are looped on main line of Shivaji Nagar, Chinchwad, talegaon, so overtaking freights happens via loop line at 30kph, many times. It trails sometimes talegaon local from dehu road to talegaon And slow down also happens at lonavala yard thereby delaying entry into lonavala station
