Buy software for hardware that you already own and once you start to grow you will start to look for what suits you. (Beat Maker 3, Koala, IMPC 2, Logic Pro. Add apps like Moog, Korg, and RX950). You can even go free with evaluation software or applications like MPC Beats. You can do Beats with a used $20 controller. As a matter of fact you can do the controller with all of the above.

Anything but iMPC 2 , that app crashes constantly and when you export you will hear random static in your beat . It was my favorite app until the bugs started popping up getting worse and worse. Akia don’t care and abandoned that app .

If you already have a pc then probably the best option to jump in to ‘real’ music production would be to get the MPC Studio Mk 2 is great option.

After years of always wanted to get into making beats I finally copped the MPC one plus. Def a learning curve as a complete beginner. I’m just now finally able start getting the hang of it. Grabbing a mpk mini soon too. Thanks for your videos.

Buy an MPC One+ / Live 2 (my choice was the Live 2) or / and a Force (the One+ / Live 2 / Force for electronic music), pick up a decent PC, pick up a legit copy of Reaper ($60, lifetime updates, no yearly upgrade / sub fees), pick up a Musio subscription and an EastWest subscription (about $50 a month in total for both) for an entire orchestral suite and comes with some stuff for dabbling with synth / rock. Pick up a straight up MIDI controller keyboard, I highly recommend an Arturia Keylab or Maudio (used), and you are set. In short: Electronic Music (beats / rap / synths / ambient / EDM / etc) - Akai MPC One+ / Live 2 / Force, decent PC, Reaper Orchestral Music - Decent pc, Reaper, Eastwest / Musio subscription Any genre - Maudio or Arturia Keylab MIDI controller Other products to look into - Native Instruments Komplete (many genres including electronic and orchestral), BBC Symphony Orchestra (Spitfire Audio), Metropolis Ark (Orchestral Tools), Nucleus (Audio Imperia) For orchestral effects (reverbs, limiters, compressors, EQ's and more), look no further than Vienna Symphonic Library (VSL), specifically, Vienna Suite Pro and Mir Pro 3D. Vienna Suite Pro is reasonably priced, but I know MIR Pro 3D is super expensive (reverb engine), however, this is the best reverb engine in the world, bar none. Between Suite Pro and Mir Pro 3D, all of my FX needs are covered for orchestral work.

I had the key 37 and took it back and got the one plus because I have a korg trition . I also have a mpk3 mini plus and saw no difference , if you don’t have midi keyboard or workstation keyboard I would get the key 37 . The beats that sell the most are from the trition because it has the classic neptunes sounds it also is grate for making old Swiss beats , cash money records and master p type beats .

I just bought an Akai Force and have no clue what I’m doing. Full on newbie. I’ve written lyrics for years but never performed them. I was sick of waiting around hoping for a miracle so I pulled the trigger and went shopping. How many months do you think it will take me to learn how to use this and be able to create a fully developed instrumental with vocals? 6 months? More?
