That is a great tone for sure. It is also very easy to achieve a tone like that. Any 5150 will do it.

Fractal is way ahead on tones. I've been using them for years now. My only gripe with them is the user interface on the units themselves. They're just not very intuitive compared to some of the competitors. Axe Edit is excellent though and the power and number of options in the units are leagues above the competition. Matt and the other guys are also amazing. Hopefully the IV will get a more intuitive user interface while retaining the road worthy ruggedness and tone options of the III.

I see the Engl e840 5050 power amp. I am thinking about getting one for my axe iii to run my 412s. Does that power amp deliver good punch on the 412 with the axe iii? Are you happy with it? I thought about trying the Laney 212 fr cabs but fear I might be left disappointed. Hence the inquiry about the Engl 5050. Axe Iii sounds sick thru badlander 100 effects return so I thought about trying the Engl power amp 🤘

Touring without a backup not a great idea. Got the axe3 turbo. Was fine for 8 months. Did various updates. After one of the lasts firmware updates it was fine for a week. Then I turned it on and the whole thing was bricked. Couldn’t load any patches. Delt with support. Hours later determined it was hosed. I use power regulators and babied the unit like crazy including having pro help when doing updates and I ended up having to wipe the whole unit to get it to work. Totally out of the blue. In 25 years touring heavily I’ve had one tube amp have an issue, bad effects loop solder joint.. my experience anyways. It also took me three weeks to create one guitar patch that I actually really liked. Then fractal released a firmware update and my favorite guitar tone changed noticeably and I haven’t liked it as much since, so I’ve basically used the ax3 for about a month out of the two years I’ve had it now. I’ll probably sell it and keep my eye out for when they go 96 kHz since part of the reason why I bought one was to act as an outboard effect rack over AES. But now I record everything 96K.

You know that FW Updates are optional, you do not HAVE to install them if you like your tone! But I agree. Always bring a backup. Because if you do, you will not need it ;)

@@berndkiltz true I didn’t have to update but there were some bugs that needed fixing and it was there acclaimed CYGNUS update. Tractor was still not able to tell me what went wrong considering it updated fine but just randomly went cookoo after a week. I keep all my gear on high-end power regulators too. Dunno.

I have been a kemper user for about 2 years and I recently bought an axe fx 2 XL+ for $600 just to try it out. Once I get the switching down I am moving to the fractal and selling the kemper. I have had bad luck with midi switchers though. Got the behringer 1010 thing and that was confusing now I have the mfc101 mk2 and my ethercon port isn’t working. Waiting on the mfc power supply so I can use midi. We will see. Might sell all of it and buy a new axe fx 3 and a fc6.

Don’t listen to Ken. Dude was all about Kemper for years. Toured with them and even got buz from unearth to buy one back in the day. Ken even used to post videos of him making kemper tones and all that telling us it’s the best. It’s like ppl forget the internet is forever. He for whatever reason was forced to use fractal probably because the other guitarist already used it and he joined the band

What band were you in, Don't remember you? Used my Kemper when there was no alternative for a decent alternative to putting a 57 on my cab. If you look at all of my videos for Kemper, the unit kept breaking and had no support. I put up tutorials on how to fix them. So you're saying don't listen to me because I roadtested another unit for a year? Good advice!❤
