I find it hard to understand why this video has so few likes. It's beautifully performed. Many thanks to Chris Thile for bringing so many wonderful artists to our screens.

Chris Thile and everyone who has anything to do with Live From Here are here to remind us that there is GREAT music in the world. It made me sick that the Grammy broadcast last week allowed local stations (primarily owned by Sinclair Corp) to run commercials over the live performance of Call My Name by I'm Wiith Her. Don't give up - there IS an economically viable audience for beautiful music performed from the heart!

Becca, one of the best voices I've ever heard, simply stunning to hear her without competing instruments, beautiful harmonies to complement Chris's singing. Loved it.

Brigid Tunney (Irish singer Paddy Tunney's mother) is the source of this song, done so ably by Planxty's Andy Irvine, and now by Becca and Chris. The story of this song and how he learned it is told in Paddy's book, "the Stone Fiddle, My Way to Tradtional Song". One of the most delicate and heartbroken songs in the tradition. A particular favorite of mine for decades. Glad to hear a new version.

As I roved out on a bright May morning To view the meadows and flowers gay Whom should I spy but my own true lover As she sat under yon willow tree I took off my hat and I did salute her I did salute her most courageously When she turned around well the tears fell from her Sayin' "False young man, you have deluded me A diamond ring I owned I gave you A diamond ring to wear on your right hand But the vows you made, love, you went and broke them And married the lassie that had the land" "If I'd married the lassie that had the land, my love It's that I'll rue till the day I die When misfortune falls sure no man can shun it I was blindfolded I'll ne'er deny" Now at nights when I go to my bed of slumber The thoughts of my true love run in my mind When I turned around to embrace my darling Instead of gold sure it's brass I find And I wish the Queen would call home her army From the West Indies, Amerikay and Spain And every man to his wedded woman In hopes that you and I will meet again.
