Hey, the Question in Task 6 mentions to use the same data as specified in the source files, including the names of the Primary key fields or any other field. Even the marking scheme shows the original field names, without specifiing any alternatives or suggestions which express the usage of modified field names.

Field names should follow a proper naming convention and no where it is mentioned tht same field name should be used..you can see it is Pupil number in file but in marking scheme it is Pupil_No... also no data is changed...

Cant I delete "English, Maths, IT and Science" from the student table after making the StudentClass table since the classes are already there?

Surely you don't need "English", "Maths", "IT" and "Science" in the Student table in task 9 when normalising to the 3rd form. This is duplicated data and violates the rules of 3NF...

@@finzpapers9364 yeah and there's a mistake in their answer key too on the link table which shows surname as one of the fields! madness! you'd think they'd proofread these before they go out!

Why didnt we separate the pupil number and forename and surname into another table and delete the forename and surname from the original table

I think its because they will fall under the same primary key which is StudentID so its not needed to split them

yea but ultimately those 4 subject fields are dependent on the 'Pupil_number' or Student_ID, so making the Student_ID or Pupil_number the only primary key is probably the best way of connecting the fields
