These moments show that some of Eric’s buffoonery was maybe just him trying to get laughs and entertain his friends.

Eric is more perceptive than given credit, it was nice to see him demonstrate defending his issue about how Cory disregards his feelings about sorting through their stuff. Cory acted like it was a chore and didn’t consider it was a chance for him to bond with Eric.
@jonathanstern5537 Жыл бұрын
I saw a video that said that Eric is actually the most perceptive and one of the smartest character, but he can't really handle stress. When life gets stressful, he reverts to a child-like mentality. We saw this when he was studying for the SATs, then again when he during his college years. It's his way of coping.
@discontinued692 Жыл бұрын
As much as I like Cory, I don't understand why he couldn't be a bit more kind to his brother. Just sitting and spending 5 minutes with him once and a while would have made all the difference in their relationship. Eris is not just perceptive, but he is also assertive, and makes his feelings known in many ways.

I get that Eric being a teenager trying to be popular just like Cory was trying to be friends around people his age. But they did have moments as kids being close and there for one another. But as they got older they wrote Eric to just be a complete Buffon so they made him appear odd when he showed any emotion. Cory did push Eric away especially when he helped him get into college. Eric knowing they were growing apart tried getting closer to Cory who only pushed himself further away. That’s what Eric was saying this episode.
@PiazzaGurl Жыл бұрын
Eric was never the “stupid one” he’s always been smart and smart when needed. Like in this episode. Cory thought saying sorry with no reason or meaning would solve everything. That’s why Eric responded the way he did.

What made me dislike Cory in this episode is that he kept talking at Eric, but he didn't really try to figure things out or didn't really care Eric was upset. This was a great series, but I didn't like how they changed Eric in the later seasons. He was funny, but it was a complete 180 from the early years when he was as important a character as Cory or Shawn.
@emmasmith13812 жыл бұрын
I do agree with your point to a degree but I’d have to say in the early season Cory was in elementary school so Eric obviously had a large impact on him when he was a child living under the same roof as Eric who was in high school and when it was all young kid stuff/shenanigans same going through high school but once Eric was done he was kinda an adult trying to find his was through life and what he wanted to do the same with Cory once he graduated.Imo they just grew up and (kinda) went their separate ways as much as u can when u attend the same college because they’re older now especially when Cory was in college and a married man and had other priorities.Shawn being his BEST friend since we all can see and remember and even with Eric the writers gave Eric his own older friend group like jack and Rachel.They just grew up and apart as siblings who’ve known each other since day 1 in comparison to jack and Shawn who didn’t.Although I do admit that episode was kinda sad because Eric didn’t want to throw away childhood possessions and wanted to rekindle his relationship with Cory but it seemed like Cory just wanted to move on,which we learned out why

Ok, so I guess bc Eric is in his feelings, we’re just gonna ignore the fact that bonding with Cory was NEVER a priority for Eric. He didn’t even claim Cory at school until Harley was about to beat him up. Eric said out of his own mouth the reason he didn’t care about spending time with Cory was bc, “I had my own friends.” THAT’S why Cory didn’t think it was a big deal to Eric. Was Cory dead-a$$ in the wrong? 100%!!! But it’s interesting that Eric still can’t see his own hand in why his little brother doesn’t feel that close to him.
@echorose20282 жыл бұрын
This is why I can see the confusion between the two brothers and them being on different pages. In the earlier seasons, there's a scene where Cory expresses that he's really angry that Eric left him behind at some point and they're not friends anymore and Alan tells him that Eric got older and started to want to do his own thing with his own friends and Eric tells Cory that they both have their own friends at this point and they'll always be brothers. This worked fine for the rest of high school. But then they're suddenly both in the same college and they have the same friends and the age gap doesn't seem as big anymore. We watch their relationship begin to change and I think Eric also starts to think that they're becoming friends as well as brothers again like when they were little kids. But Cory probably still remembers that conversation from years before. They're on separate pages about what their relationship is again and this episode is them figuring that out.

I was confused to see all the hate going to Cory in this situation. As you said..they never really were close.. so why is it Cory's fault that he didn't understand why Eric was so upset. Yes, it was their childhood but you can't push someone away in their youth then come back when they are adults and expect everything to be fine. I say this because my older sister was the same way. All through high school, she ignored and used me and our 3 younger siblings. Now that we're in our 30's, she thinks we're all besties..when nothing has changed within all that time. She just thought time was enough to forget all the bad when literally nothing was done on her end to make it better. When we get into fights, she wonders why none of us side with her 🤷♀ You just reap what you sow.

@@Breenndda Right…the older sibs (especially ones left in charge) almost never feel it’s their place to apologize or even admit to any wrongdoing. I’m in my 50s, she’s in her 60s, and I STILL have to sometimes remind her we’re not kids anymore…her little “in charge” moment has LONG expired. 😂🥰
