The one thing that HiT seems to have a good idea on is to explore Edward's character a bit. It's perfectly natural to believe you might not be up to the same standards as your peers who have remarkable achievements to their names (speed for Gordon or strength for Henry). Edward, if executed properly, can be that vessel for the audience members who feel inadequate compared to their own peers. And yet, despite how average he maybe, so long as he keeps trying, he's simply irreplaceable. I think that's what made me grow to appreciate Edward more and more over the years.

Undeniably superb. Fit's really well into the build up to Edward struggling but persevering regardless of the odds stacked against him. At this point Edward was in need of repairs as he wasn't in the best of condition but would summon a valiant effort no matter what.

@@kennethjoseph9309 Yes he has been but like all machines Edward requires upkeep. Repairs and new parts don't last forever depending on the circumstance to cause wear and tear. If one thing goes wrong it can cause other things to go wrong too. Eventually they may need to be seen too again. Also it's worth noting that "Old Iron" and "Edwards Exploit" are years apart in the RWS timeline. Edwards Exploit is in 1965 and Old Iron was round about 1952.

At 2:52 I started to feel really sorry for Edward. All he wanted was to prove that he is just as useful as the twins are despite the fact they are stronger than he is. But incase this story has taught us that its dosent matter how strong or fast a person can be to become successful, but in light in all that be the best you can be to be a that light to others with your own uniqueness and strengths.

For me I see way Awdry favored Edward as his first creation due to the fact he's seen it all and knows how to treat other with absolute respect as well being friends with anybody. I thought about this today if Edward wasn't able to come out again for him being outdated than my question is this would Edward be preserved or be put the scrap (I don't wish that upon him, he my favorite character). He proved time and time again that he get the job done no problem (despite he get worn out easily). What do you think?
