I got into it throughout the last decade it was on thanks to my mother, I was blown away how captivating the story would continually be and seriously impressed how we were getting new episodes practically every weekday of the year. Any other shows outside the daytime soap genre would do 22 maybe 26 episodes a year, but to pull off what As The World Turns and quite a good deal of others were doing? Holy smokes! I recently purchased an external hard-drive with as much of the show as possible that's more or less generally available, loving the journey.

This was the Best. Thing. Ever. I was born just before "World Turns" came on the air, and my mother bottle-fed me during the show. She quit watching soaps when Sara Karr was killed off of "Edge of Night" (she cried for three days and vowed never to watch again), but my grandmother lived with us and so I saw all her shows every time school was out. "World Turns" was my favorite. I have watched the final episode, and the final scene, more times than I can count, and it always makes me cry. Don Hastings, Kathryn Hays and Scott DeFreitas all look the same--which is to say, fantastic! I am so glad a fan got "Kim" to say "Toots"! We still say that at my house--"Now, listen, Toots!" I can't believe no one remembered that Kim's true love before Bob, and her third husband, was Dan Stewart. I'll never forget the episode where Kim wrestled a drunken Susan Stewart into the shower to sober her up before her hearing to be reinstated at Memorial. And then, years later, in a wonderful Douglas Marland storyline, Scott DeFreitas as Andy was a recovering alcoholic and Susan was his AA sponsor. Kim, Bob and Andy were in the Hughes family kitchen, and Andy was saying "Susan says this" and "Susan says that" and Kim finally exploded and exclaimed, "Susan! Susan! The source of all wisdom!" It was hilarious. Scott's appreciation of Mr. Hastings and Ms. Hays was so genuine and so touching. Don Hastings is as funny as ever. What a wonderful reunion. Thank you so much for making this happen.

Watching this made my heart happy. Got some tears in my eyes. I remember when Kim came to town, and she soon became my favorite character and Kathryn my favorite actress. Kathryn lives just 50 miles up the road from me now in Illinois. When she came back to Illinois last year, the little town gave her a Star downtown and held a ceremony. I found out about his the day after, and was so upset that I missed it, or I would have been there. Don Hastings, he has not changed one bit. Thank you so much Mr. Locher for bringing these 2 wonderful icons together. It gave me comfort. ATWT is missed by so many. Your reunions have all been great, but this one made my heart happy. Oh wow, Andy gave Kim and Bob so much grief but it was great viewing! Who remembers Andy drunk driving and putting Lien in hospital and then Kim and John visited him in jail and refused to bail him out. Kim was LIVID. I also remember the affair storyline with Bob and Susan, and Kim saying “Susan, get outta here, because in a few seconds, I’m gonna flatten you kiddo.”
@Dee-gx7yb4 жыл бұрын
Yes I remember all that Kim was nice but dont get her wrong she snap on you lol!
@mthivier4 жыл бұрын
What was interesting about that storyline was that Lisa and Bob (Lien’s grandparents) were initially more forgiving of Andy than John and Kim were. It was also great in that the writers were able to have Tom reach back and make reference to his own addiction, when he came back from Vietnam. It was back when the show actually made use of the show’s history (which they stopped doing a few years later).
@Bockdollar-the-Songwriter4 жыл бұрын
OMG OMG OMG - I watched this using a different Gmail address. This was so great! I've been watching old old KZbin videos of old ATWT episodes. I was amazed how a "hutch" in Nancy's kitchen looks just like a hutch that was in my Grandma's dining room in Iowa, where I grew up. There was something so relatable about ATWT -- in its heyday, we all connected with that strong sense of family, and despite it being a TV show, there was something so real about it. You cared about the characters and what happened to them. As time went on, the emotional core shifted from Chris and Nancy Hughes to Bob and Kim Hughes. I was quite busy with school and just making it in the adult world that I had little time for soaps or any TV, and throughout the 2000's, I only watched occasionally, catching some of the groundbreaking episodes with Luke and Noah (and Daytime's first real gay couple with the gay kiss). When I heard ATWT was being canceled in 2010, out of loyalty and wanting to re-connect with my own past history of this show, I watched the last week's worth of shows online. I needed to have some closure around Nancy and of course around this show! Thank you, thank you Alan for bringing these great and wonderful actors together again! Please bring them back for a Part II, if they and you are agreeable! Thank you for whatever you can do to bring in Patricia Bruder Debrovner, Marie Masters and Eileen Fulton - I do hope you can track them down! Thank you again Alan!

Wow. This was amazing. And what can you say about Scotty Defritas? I have so much respect for him now. The love and respect he has for Don and Kathy is so genuine and real. What an amazing time in his life when he was acting on World Turns with the giants of daytime tv. Kathy, Larry Bryggman, and Don. Those memories have obviously stayed with him. He talked about Andrew Kavovit. I remember seeing him on an episode of Shark Tank pitching something to the Sharks. So Scott is right about him being into inventing new products. Alan, now that we have had these two living legends on, any chance that your working on getting Eileen Fulton and Larry together? I loved their scenes together. She always called him "that old Johnny Dixon". Now if I can just nitpick for a second Alan. I know it's probably out of your control or you would fix it. I was 5 when I saw the storyline where Sara Fuller (who was engaged to Don Hughes, I think) fell down a flight of stairs and there was a different Jennifer (not the Jennifer who later married Dr. Bob) who was on trial for murder. (I remember riding in the back of my dad's truck [that was something you do in Iowa], and I would "act out" the big fight scene between Sara and Jennifer -- "Give me that letter!" - which somehow proved their mother (Sara)-daughter(Jennifer) relationship.) And Jennifer's defense attorney was Chris Hughes! (But Nancy and everyone else thought Jennifer was guilty?) Jennifer had some kind of alternate first name too - Amanda? Anyhow, I was hooked. I also remember Dr. Bob sobbing when his then-wife Sandy was in a fire, covered with bandages. And when "Sandy" got her bandages unwrapped, she had a new actress! I remember in 1976, when my family was walking around Washington and Philadelphia for the bicentennial, someone got me a copy of one of the soap magazines, which contained a then-20-year-history of ATWT and I read it all. My family and I later shifted toward being more into AMC, but it all started with ATWT. So many memories -- thanks again Alan!

Loved these two and Andy. So great to see them. Looking great. Their memories are a bit fuzzy on some things but who isn’t when we mature. When Kathryn came on in 1973 they actually were in color. They were colorized in the late 60s during the Lisa Michael Shea storyline among others

Great episode - thanks, Alan. I hope that everyone takes up Scott's offer to do this again. Maybe include Marie Masters, since all were involved with her character for so many years. Wonder if Julianne Moore would join in at some point.

That was really great to watch. Don;t they look just incredible ? and Kathryn what a beautiful lady still. Always loved Scott , really liked him as an actor and was great to see him doing so well now. Thank you Alan, it was a lovely catch up with all the good memories. We must not forget that Kim and Bob were for so long the viewers parents, both great actors and as you can see, really lovely people in real life. Thanks again Alan!

Yes, I believe she is in Princeton. When she moved back last year, the town held a ceremony and gave her a Star on their sidewalk downtown. I found out about this the following day after seeing pictures on Facebook. I would have been there if I had known.
