As far as we know it's just a reference and there's no other connection besides that. This won't be the last instance of this kind of reference According to the writer's twitter; objectively speaking, striking Edward like Will did should be worth many, many more credits, but Ed actually has a low opinion of himself so he thinks it's only worth 5

In Danmachi the healing is so advanced it can heal curses, infections, viruses, cancer, and even restore severed limbs or replace missing ones with magical metal limbs (that can even feel sensations as if it were real). It may be a different setting, but it's written by the same author, sooo... It would make sense that in this story it is similar. Unless you're dead in an instant, there is probably a way to heal it.

The test had nothing to do with showing if he could learn magic, as he said in the beginning it was about showing if he had talent because if he could land a blow on him when he was obviously both limiting himself and still holding back then there was no point in him continuing because the people he runs into later won't give a damn lol. The other students didn't have such a point blank disadvantage, they were just ass at studying lol.
