I like how Horikoshi structures “the power of friendship” around genuine cooperation. It’s a big theme that nobody can live this life alone and re-contextualizing a popular shonen trope through the lens of actual support works really well. Hero society partly fell because of All Might and Deku’s toxic idea of heroism being about self-destructive self-sacrifice. But the new generation is about how we all can be heroes in our own way. Like Hatsume said, inventing support items with her support course classmates is her way of being a hero. It’s why the Culture Festival worked well for me because it was about putting on a concert to save a little girl’s traumatized heart. Deku saved Eri physically, but she still wasn’t saved emotionally. That’s why Jiro originally wanted to do music and later became a hero: she wanted to save people’s hearts. This series is truly about heroism in all the various ways that we can be heroes. It’s why I’m okay with the series being more about sentiment than action at times.

that's what got me the most! his expressions are so different from before. the first shot of him in the woods was very shocking too. his facade is completely gone right now.

Façade is a good word for it. It was a gilded, shallow mask he put on to hide the fact he never believed he could shine like the rest of them. In hindsight, his "I just wanted to be like everybody else" from the license exam hits a bit different when you realize he meant "I just wanted to actually belong here with the rest of you." Its rough. Its never even implied the kid ever wanted to even be a Hero. He just wanted to belong. And that simple dream was turned into a nightmare by the one who gave him the power to pursue it. Aoyama is an interesting mirror to Deku that way.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, mad respect to Midoriya, Aizawa, and the class for standing up for Aoyama. He’s got some great friends and a great mentor!

yes, I was really relieved. it makes the most sense too so it annoys me that some people were so unforgiving of aoyama's situation or were mad that the class forgave him so easily.

@@loveforkujait’s wild that people were even mad bc he was literally a victim himself. like seriously, he had no choice unless he was okay with All For One killing his parents. if people don’t get that… well they have no heart. 🫣 especially bc Larah had mentioned this before but his parents don’t have quirks but his friends/classmates do so the latter have a higher chance of surviving in comparison to his parents. yeah it sucks, but it’s not like Aoyama did it bc he wanted to. idk why that’s hard to get. 😭

*Mr. Aizawa’s speech to Aoyama honestly made me cry. I’m so happy that he has no intention of expelling him since I really don’t think he deserves it. Also Hatsume is back! It’s good to see that she’s still been in relatively high spirits despite everything that’s been happening! 😅*

Showing Shinso in the end credit shows how important he is in the next episode. And how important he is for the battle in general. Like damn his contribution is going to be BIG.

Wasn't he supposed to join the Hero Course before the whole War Arc began? He was either going to be in 1A or 1B.

@@MisterNive Yeah. At the time they still are deliberating it if he passed. If we didn't know Aizawa wouldn't expell Aoyama, we would've thought they'll replace him with Shinso.
