Brother... 3 years ago my heart was shattered into a thousand pieces. I was hollow, void of life, and sad to depths I couldn’t believe possible... ... and through the grace of God, I discovered your song - through a Hyundai commercial of all things - and traced it back to the original version (here). The raw emotion, the beautiful sentiments, the intimacy of your song made me cry, countless times... but it also helped Me heal. I stand here today, 3 years later, mended, and ready to love again. I thank you deeply Asaf Avidan... You helped save my soul.

Music has been the one thing that can always pull pure emotions from me after my tour to Afghanistan. I used to always think i just liked a song. I know what you mean...I'm hearing him for the first time today...I like the arrangements and concept, but I find it disconcerting that he might be putting on a fake American accent and singing disingenuous songs. berlynda Nyabako Disingenuous? First time I've ever heard the idea that you have to earn your accent... Regardless of whether he's "faking" it or not, actors and singers singing for different audiences change their accents all the time. Frankly, it's a skill!

No more tears, my heart is dry I don't laugh and I don't cry I don't think about you all the time But when I do, I wonder why You had to go out of my door And leave just like you did before I know I said that I was sure But rich man can't imagine poor One day baby, we'll be old, oh baby, we'll be old And think about the stories that we could have told So, one day baby, we'll be old Oh baby, we'll be old And think of all the stories That we could have told Little me and little you Kept doing all the things they do They never really think it through Like I can never think you're true Here I go again The blame, the guilt, the pain, the hurt, the shame The founding fathers of our plane That's stuck in heavy clouds of rain One day baby, we'll be old, oh baby, we'll be old And think about the stories that we could have told One day baby, we'll be old, oh baby, we'll be old And think of all the stories That we could have told I'll say it, one day baby, we'll be old Oh baby, we'll be old And think of all the stories That we could have told I'll say it, one day baby, we'll be old Oh baby, we'll be old, oh baby, we'll be old Sure baby, we'll be old, oh baby, we'll be old Sure baby, we'll be old, oh baby, we'll be old (bis) One day baby, we'll be old, oh baby, we'll be old Think about the stories that we could have told Asaf Avidan - Reckoning song (One day) No más lágrimas, mi corazón está seco, no me río y no lloro, no pienso en ti todo el tiempo, pero cuando lo hago, me pregunto por qué tuviste que salir por mi puerta, y marcharte justo como hiciste antes, sé que dije que estaba seguro, pero el hombre rico no puede imaginarse al pobre. This song is absolutely so much better than the remix. It is made full of pain and touch, every time I listen to it I have to cry. This song was meant to be for him since the beginning and I haven't seen it until he left me again and for ever like he did before. It's sad to remember all and worse the fact that he has shown me this song and I never read the lyrics. Now, not only the voice makes me cry, also the lyrics of the song. Thanks Asaf Adivan for all your music.

I saw him do this song live & he does a part he said close ur eyes think of someone & a memory future or past & obviously the song is about letting someone go that maybe u didnt mean to or maybe u did but NOW..So everytime I hear this I am 39 but it takes back to when I was 20 young & out having fun..but this handsome young man asked my friend to introduce us cuz he said.. "she is the prettiest girl I have ever seen!!" So my friend introduced us to one another & when our eyes met & once we talked it was just a instant connection.. It didn't take long for me to think this is my soulmate, I really never believed in love at first sight but with him I did & he did so after that we were inseparable & the more months went by the more we loved one another!! SO we were driving one day & he was such a beautiful soul & a old soul like me.. but his smile wasn't there, his laugh wasn't true, he was holding my hand a little tighter, looking in my eyes a little deeper & I finally asked him, I could feel his energy was sad & we were never sad when we were together..he says I had this dream & it was one of those real dreams he said..I woke up sweat covered, breathing heavy & I thought I died & this dream & felt so REAL like a warning, but I kissed his hand & asked can u feel that?! I saw that smile begin to warm up a lil more, but he was uneasy still & he was kinda telling me his goodbye & asking me to know I love you SO much & don't be sad, don't let my friends be sad & it got me a little scared & kinda mad even cuz we were young ya so I just said it was a dream & I know nothing is going happen & said again & again its just a dream baby..baby it was just a dream! Then two weeks later the day after my birthday, the day I found out he was going to ask me to be his wife & be what we wanted soulmates for life, except I was told to call his family & my stomach sank cuz I had a feeling, & damn that feeling, but I called his Dad told me Stephanie ..Brad is gone & at first like gone ok when he coming back, no he was killed in a car accident & I just fell I cried & screamed..his visitation had a 3 hour wait because this man, my love, my beautiful soul touched SO MANY but I think of him everytime now I hear this song..I try to remember his voice & that warmth of his smile, the goosebumps from his kiss...I still haven't loved anyone like him & maybe I won't, but I was lucky enough for that time & I wonder what he would look like now at 41 & what our kids would have looked like too..I still wear a stocking hat of his to this day & I visit him on his birthday, my birthday & anytime I feel alone & need to talk! CHERISH THE ONES YOU LOVE, DON'T FORGET THE ONES YOU LOST BECAUSE JUST CUZ U CANT SEE THEM DON'T MEAN THEIR NOT THERE! LIFE CAN BE SWEET & LIFE CAN BE CRUEL..BUT WE HAVE THIS ONE LIFE SO ENJOY EVERY SECOND, DAY, YEAR..WE ALL WILL LEAVE THIS LIFE ONE DAY & I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SAY I LIVED & IT WAS BEAUTIFUL.. Thanks Asaf truly

It's easy to imagine this song and its lyrics resonating with a lot of people. Many comments here quote the line "rich men can't imagine poor" which of course can be paraphrased by "you don't know the worth of something until it's gone". I also want to point out the line "we never think it through" because for one reason or another, people say or do things (or don't do things although they better did) that have consequences - maybe not immediately, but someday - which they didn't expect and can't change, because they can't be undone. Naturally, life goes on, and you have to make the best of the situation you or fate or whatever got you in. But now and then, I think most people find themselves in these moments this song is about: what if I acted differently in this situation, what stories could WE have told? I hope that some of you think about this when the time comes, and if not, I hope that you still make the best of what is to come.

Love this guy's work. Such a unique voice and interpretation. Absolutely loved The Reckoning album. But I'm bummed it was pulled from Spotify, however. And that the album is not even available as purchasable streaming media through iTunes or Amazon. I don't know the insides of the music industry but streaming media is the way to go. I wish everyone was all caught up with the program. Because KZbin videos definitely don't cut it as music playlists. I just want beautiful sound. Great quality sound, to run in the background. Not video. #asafavidan #streamingmusic #spotify

And yes, someone already suggested I order a CD. My take on that, however, is I rather be eco-friendly. I live a minimalist lifestyle and prefer to travel lightly. I can't afford piling up my belongings with physical copies of media such as CDs. It would make a lot more sense, from a musician's perspective, to distribute their music through online streaming sources. It's certainly cheaper. And it's part of this world's new forward thinking lifestyle, which I actually embrace, because it causes less physical waste in the world (speaking about the materials involved with CD production).

Sweet! Asaf responded to my concern about The Reckoning album no longer being available on Spotify and iTunes in the US. He said he'd check the problem. And that in the meantime, a digital copy of the album is also available on his site: asafavidanmusic.com
