Listen to what the Mrs. Powell just said ….. Too much baby mother mindset in jamaica , it’s not cool to intentionally be a single mother. Makes life hard on you for no reason and sometimes you end up taking out your frustrations on the children. Be careful who you have children for

Amen to what you said Mrs. Alyssa Powell about being a mother. If a woman is a good strong mom SHE WILL FIRST TAKE CARE OF HERSELF body and mind because without that she CAN'T TAKE CARE OF HER KIDS HUSBAND OR FAMILY. I have learned myself and WATCHING my mom have 4 kids first set of kids 11months apart from each other and a husband OMG!! CAN YOU IMAGINE .

Very important discussion. I don’t judge anyone who doesn’t want to have children. There is no manual on parenting, what works for one person or a child may not work for another. In everything balance is important although sometimes hard, we at times as parents forget ourselves and pour everything into our children. Great discussion!

One of the wrong reasons for having kids, is also to do what "society" expects. As a Counsellor/Social Worker, I have had to counsel so many women, who resent their lives and their children, because they did not really want to have them, but bought into that "you have to have children to be a real woman" foolisness. That, or having people tell them they "are selfish" if they choose to not procreate! As someone who CHOSE not to procreate I get the non-sensical "what if your mother didnt have you?" My response - if shi neva have mi, mi wudden deh yah and wudden KNOW!! That was my parents' decision and now this is mine!! People just NEED to stay out of people's reproductive decisions and MIND dem OWN BUSINESS!!

Being a parent is “HARD” but it’s sooooo “REWARDING”. I have two young men and I can relate to everything you are discussing. Being a mom is tough, especially when the kids are younger. As they grow older, specifically for boys, the dad’s role becomes more prominent. Our younger boy recently started college and we are now empty nesters. Enjoy every moment because it flies by in the blink of an eye.
