@canbeboneless6 жыл бұрын
THAT HAPPENS TO ME TOO. ITS SO FUKIN CREEPY.
@jordanf92576 жыл бұрын
It's the same thing as the Yanny Laurel thing. The phone simply picks up sound that is similar enough to the sound pattern for "Hey Siri" that it turns on. I recently figured out how to take pictures on my phone or set it to record through audio ques, which was helpful when filming, so for example, I say "Shoot" it takes a picture. However at one point (and other times in different situations) I ran into my desk (mores so went to walk past it, but somehow clipped it) the bang from this was then picked up by the phone and the sound wave was close enough for it to think someone was saying "shoot" and hence it took a picture.
@localcrackhead29046 жыл бұрын
It's ok, you have an iPhone. Apple is notorious for keeping your data safe. You know why Siri sucks so much compared to everything else? It doesn't collect your data so it can't improve as well as Google and Alexa. Also one time the FBI asked apple to unlock a phone for them, and Apple couldn't because they purposely locked themselves out of all their iPhones, to prove that no one will ever be able to access your stuff. And the recent iOS 12 update made it so that Safari blocks all these websites from accessing your data, so Facebook won't be able to collect your data from other websites. Also the app store doesn't allow apps to have tracking software in then so that's a plus too. So pretty much, if you want ur data to be safe get an apple product.

I was talking to my sister saying that the phone could hear what we said as it showed ads about what we're talking about and BOOM this video pops up on my reccomendation page
@XSpImmaLion6 жыл бұрын
Sorry guys, the video has some content that is pretty weird, not making much sense, or using mistaken correlations. 3:00 - I'm not sure what you meant by "typical wireless internet information"... but the means (wireless or non-wireless) doesn't change much the nature of information or data; Access points don't convert data to nonsense; A correct wi-fi password is used to estabilish a channel of communication between your computer and your modem/router or a wireless access point. You do use an encryption protocol (typically WPA2 these days) for wi-fi, but the way the video is trying to explain is not exactly how it works. Perhaps you were trying to simplify the idea, or explain it in a different way, but it's really confusing and not very accurate; 3:13 - Then, you talk about the Internet becoming easier to hack when it moved from wired to wireless technology... because encryption is typically simpler? One could arguably say it became easier to hack... or perhaps the scale and number of ways to hack opened up. I'm not sure if saying it became easier to hack is completely true though, pre-wireless Internet was completely different. But if it is, it's not because encryption is typically simpler... as it's quite the opposite. Wireless communications are easier to hack because of how it essencially works: your wireless device needs to broadcast signal (thus data) around for data transmission... much like radio. It's encrypted and have other security features so that not everyone with an antenna is able to capture and understand your data right away, but it's still being broadcasted so access is just easier. And if the encryption fails, then it becomes easier to exploit. It doesn't have a physical direct channel like copper or fiber optic cables, so it's inherently easier to capture data in between. Better analogy would be radio waves versus say... cable TV from the station to your home. But quite the opposite, encryption actually became way more complex and sophisticated when wireless started getting widely adopted exactly because of the needs of wireless, so non sequitur. 3:25 - Remote access tools - they are unrelated to wireless communications because they existed before widespread wireless usage - so there is no relationship about simple encryption on wireless and this part -, it's not necessarily a hack because the term is generally used for software that enables remote access to computers and other devices, which is widely used by people working with computers - like server administrators, remote support, etc. A remote access tool can be used for legitimate purposes... software like TeamViewer for instance. I think there is a term for the specific malicious version though... Remote access trojan if I'm not mistaken, in reference to a wider category of hacking tools known as trojan horses (as well as the greek tale of course). But remote access trojans have no relationship to wireless vulnerabilities... 3:33 - Saying the FBI uses phishing is correct, but not very complete information... the FBI uses multiple techniques for mass surveillance, spying and specific targetting. Phishing is the name for a broad category of techniques that tries to fool a target with malicious content disguised to look like an authentic file or service. It's commonly used by malicious actors to steal information. It can be carried through e-mail or instant messaging, and it can contain links for malware but it can also just present a fake page to collect information (say your Facebook login and password, or your banking information). But there are actually multiple categories of phishing each with it's own characteristics. Finally, I should point out that while VPNs are legit tools for privacy and security to a point, they are specifically not good for exactly some of the hacks and attacks described on the video. :P VPNs estabilishes an encrypted and secure channel between your connection and the service's servers, which is good to prevent stuff like man in the middle attacks, ISP spying, and regional blocking. But you are still subject to phishing, remote access trojans, and if you have some smartphone app surreptiously capturing audio, video and gps information that stuff will still go through.

Why? Does it really matter, since it is doing things that benefit you or information that doesn’t matter. Now if something can record and sell your social security number or credit card number now that’s a problem. I can look up where you live, where you work, or what your phone number is. If you vote this is public information.

I started getting ads for damaged teeth a this weird mold that makes them perfect, also teeth whitening kits. Also since im in The Legend of Zelda competitions, me and my friends mention it a lot so I get zelda pillow case ads, music boxes, games, phone cases, etc. lol

Thank you for this. I noticed some months ago the ads on my phone games were eerily in line with conversations I'd had recently... in person, not electronically. I even had ads in other languages after speaking that language to someone else! My settings are for English, so I was certain there was something fishy going on. I'm not sure whether to be glad I'm not simply paranoid, or upset my concern turned out to be grounded in fact.

And my mom thinks I am weird and paranoid for putting tape over my devices cameras lol I especially put tape on my little brothers tablet cameras D: who knows what kinds of weirdo's would wanna hack into those, gross. I have been on the dark web... parents who have children who are still potty training and their toddlers are hooked to the tablets/phones and watch their cartoons while on the potty, yea what do you think those camera's can see? The answer is probably way too much. A camera on a device connected to WiFi or data can be easily hacked, live streamed, recorded and sold.. Something to REALLY think about.

Delilah Lilly Putting tape over a camera won't stop hackers.......
@edgarlilly68916 жыл бұрын
Nebula Gamer, I never said it would stop hackers lol. It will stop them from seeing anything, that's the point. Like a nude child. Or myself nude. Or someone in a very private moment such as "me time". So they can't record that and sell it or spread it via the dark web in worst case scenario.

Don't use Windows or Mac. Strictly stick to Linux even better if you just install your LinuxOS with persistent memory onto a USB. Don't use a smart phone. Get the old Nokia tanks, and use a prepaid simcard and change it every month. *Edit* This is just a joke. Please don't take it seriously. I do not recommend anyone to follow the above advice because it's complete overkill. In this day and age, it's simply more viable and convenient to ignore and hide in plain sight. If you have nothing to hide, there's nothing to fear. Going off the grid, makes you even more suspicious. Stay safe out there
@thomaslee65346 жыл бұрын
Don't trust all VPN providers because most of them do collect and sell your data as well.
@thomaslee65346 жыл бұрын
Samuel Ă OS wise it's pretty secure. You can still be compromised from phishing sites and data collection or mining sites. Use an online alias if it really matters to you. Be mindful of the data u share online.
@SeleenShadowpaw6 жыл бұрын
just live in a cave somewhere in the mountains without running water or electricity and you'll be safe as well. doesn't make it very practical to live though. Linux is absolute crap for an inexperienced enduser and many people are somewhat forced to use smartphones in their day to day life for work related and other stuff.
@HiddenLunarWings6 жыл бұрын
Saleen, I think they were just giving out advice for people who like their privacy. It's good to know your options.
@vgamesx16 жыл бұрын
Seleen Shadowpaw I mostly agree, but Linux crap for inexperienced users? Yeah, I have to disagree with that... No, Linux has never been easier to use than it currently is and the web experience is exactly the same as you'd get on any other platform, it's actually less pleasant to use for experienced users who didn't make the switch early on, since you probably have a nice collection of free and/or paid software built up already and don't want to go through the hassle of finding alternatives or deal with workarounds such as wine, this is made worse by the lack of support from games. But everyone else who just wants to get on facebook and watch videos then I see little reason to stick with windows for that...
