The sight of that fallen tree serving as the ridge beam always makes me smile, and that stove looked more like a WW2 radio set in it's case...lol!😉 I would however have hung those raindeer pelts on steel wires up under the roof, so that mice won't reach them and make them their new home...

The stove is good, no matter what it looks like ) As for the skins, I also thought that they should be hung on the ceiling, and soon after the video was filmed, I went back and did it. I hope mice won't get in there 🙂

I like to think that I could do this one day, escape my awful urban existence filled with disgusting people, pointless drudgery and endless noise and pollution. I crave the silence, peace, pristine snow, and isolation. But, I also know I'm too soft, don't have the skills, the resilience, the fortitude, training, the fitness. It's nice to live vicariously through someone who does, though! Thank you for sharing. It might not be mentioned often enough, but you are also a great cinematographer; some great shots and editing in all your videos.

You can absolutely do it if you want to. When I decided that this was the way I want to retire, I didn't just watch these videos for wishing! I watched many channels and studied them! I took notes, drew up plans, made lists of things I would need and started buying necessities that I would need and started looking for a forested plot of land. I am a single woman, I'm 50yro, and told myself I could and I will! I even found a woman with her own bushcraft channel that rivals any man out there and I said if she can so can i! I watched a little bit of everyone and bought my land. You'll regret it if you don't try to do the things you crave in life. My children are grown, I'm a widow, and I put my life goals on the back burner for 30 yrs. I'm doing it slowly but surely. Even if you build your small cabin in solitude for part time use and recreation, it will change your life for the better. Good luck to you

@@Kalikat-uk5ve Thank you for reading my comment and sharing your experiences. Like with Asbjorn, I commend and am envious of your drive, will, and newly acquired skills! What is the name of the other bushcraft channel you mentioned? I'm always on the lookout for similar channels, and I don't care about gender. I can't argue with your broader point of seizing the day etc. But, I think we are in different stages of life, and life circumstances, that make it financially very, very difficult to leave my job and I am, unfortunately, unlikely to be able to 'retire' as generations before me have done. I do not own a home (and am unlikely to ever afford to), have no partner to share the bills, and I financially support my elderly mum too. Here in the south of England where I live there is not a huge amount of forested land going that isn't already owned by some miserly landowner from hundreds of years ago or bought by someone in another country for 'investment'. I realise I am making excuses, and others in similar circumstances to me have tried and succeeded...

Hi! 🤗 I don't make tea from tree resin. This tea is made from chaga (inonotus obliquus) - a "birch" mushroom. Chaga tea has a very soft woody taste with barely noticeable hints of birch sap. The taste is not rich, so it is easy to drink without sugar or other additives.
