I think the Pixel outperforms the iPhone in most categories, but that is always subjective, save for the inconsistencies that you mentioned. The iPhone has better audio, because the Pixel's noise reduction could be a bit more aggressive and "thins" out the audio.

To me Pixel photos look more natural and dramatic. One thing not mentioned here is photo post-editing that can be done quickly on the phone itself. I have both phones and Pixel has so many more options to get a picture to it's full potential.

I prefer the Pixels approach as it preserves the highlight and the shadows and still maintains the contrast for which pixel images are famous. A point to always keep in mind is iPhones images are 24MP as opposed to pixel with only 12MP in default settings so all the zooming in to highlight that pixels images are a tad bit softer sometimes is unfair I believe. If you really wanna compare what each system is capable of why not shoot in full resolution at least in daylight.

You are spot on when you said Apple have for years over saturated the iPhone photos. I have noticed it too so you are not alone and have mentioned it in past iPhone comments. I read that Google are putting out a fix for the Pixel 8 camera which should resolve a lot of the problems we see here in your video. But not much between them really, swings and roundabouts as the saying goes. Be interesting to see in a few weeks when Google update the camera with the fixes how it then compares. As with all new phones the makers always put them out without fully testing them it seems. They rely on the public to give the feedback how ever annoying it is to then improve on them. That is really annoying. I would say never buy a new phone until it's been out for about two to three months by then a lot of the problems would have been discussed and possibly fixed. Great video as always.

The iPhone has "photographic styles" so saturated photos is moot as you can set up your phone from day 1 to have flatter or more saturated results, or inbetween. So, this is why most techies never complain, as they know it is meaningless as people can choose their style. It is def not a negative.

Yeah right. The pixel looks washed out in most photos when looking at a person’s skin tone to see if they’re accurate or not. Pixels portrait mode doesn’t pay attention details like small strands of hair

For the photos, I prefer the Pixel! The way it processes photos make the highlights much more pleasant to look at. The iPhone brightens the photos a bit like my S23, and I'm not a fan of that. With the Pixel you can always edit it slightly afterwards for a more saturated look. For videos... iPhones for sure.

There might not be too much of differences between pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 pro Max, but but one should go for pixel because of following reasons: 1. Better value for money 2. 7 year's updates shows this phone will be at another level by each year passing. 3. Pixels are all about software magic which gives immense possibilities of improvement. iPhone doesn't upgrade itself much but expects you to upgrade yours one. At your cost ofcourse 😊

I could argue that all other phones have second rate chips because they just cannot do what the Pixels are doing. With more AI coming, the lead of the Pixel will only expand. Not everyone buys a mobile phone to do console-type gaming, and even there the Pixel is really not that far behind. Clearly one of the best camera's, best screen, gorgeous user-friendly OS, best smart features, great durability according to early tests. Absolutely rediculous to call it second rate.

Iphone has more cinematic style in photos that are more warm and contrasty. The pixel over-bright the shadows that is easy to do that with apple proraw or a change in photographic style. Iphone has more consistency in photos, better 5x, better portrait mode, better video (in any category, like 4k, 24, 30,60, pro res, selfie, cinematic mode, log etc) and it has over all the best smartphone camera system in the world right now! And 24mp native!

If you look at the whole photography experience on Pixel, it outshines the iPhone. Google makes it easier to accentuate or tone down specific aspect of media where Apple gives you way less customizing options. The pre and post process of media on the Pixel devices is superior. On the iPhone you're basically stuck with what you get and only get basic editing tools to alter what you capture. On the Pixel 8 one shot is usually enough because even if it didn't come out perfect, which all phones suffer from, you get wayyy better options to improve the photo (magic eraser, enhance, un Blur, portrait light, camouflage, etc).The iPhone has slightly better video output, but that still doesn't make it a harder hitter than the Pixel's technology.

I don't think this is a matter of which phone to go with based on the camera performance since both cameras are respectable it's more of which ecosystem you prefer is it Android or iOS? Most people will not switch from an iPhone to an Android and vice versa based on the camera performance since we are at a place where all cameras are good enough. I think if you are n iOS user you are sticking with iOS, but if you are an Android user then it's better to compare with other Android phones and not Apple when it comes to choosing...

The good thing about the pixel is that the Photos app offers AMAZING editing options that you just can't get on iOS. Even if you accidentally get a blurry photo or awkward lighting, all you have to do is hit the "unblur" tool in Photos and you can fix it right away. The camera system on Google is superior from the processing behind the scenes to the ability to alter it heavily post photo. Iphone just got the option to add the blur after a photo, but can only do it on pictures taken on the new iphones. I can add blur to photos taken by my iPhone 13 with my Pixel. I think the only real reason Apple is still on a pedestal is due to reviewers.

Pixel 8 pro for stills and iphone 15 pro max for videos. Having said that, I still believe there a lot of scope for google to get better at videos too, particularly when you switch lenses during the video and an option to get portrait videos at different zoom levels.

What is going on 09:30 on the clock on the pixel, is it me or has the picture details in some area of the clock and why? What is going on? Look to the left, looks like there is more details. Google has admitted there are many camera issues, and a big update will be coming. It clearly is not as good as the Pixel fans in the comments suggest, but probably unfair to make conclusions on the Pixel until it gets the updates and new features.

And to much sharpness not going to change. Hopfully they fix the strange detailartifacts 9:30 and so on and somewhat strange hdr sometimes.

The audio is soo much better compared to the iPhone. It's like having ANC on. In terms of camera the iPhone has a yellowish tint that gives you warmer photos/videos. Not sure which is better as it's more of a personal preference. The video in the Pixel8 has been massively improved compared to the last generation but I would like to see the video boost mode before I say if it's better than the iPhone. All around these are probably two of the best cameras in the market. I would probably go for the Pixel due to features like the magic eraser and face swap as I can see myself using a lot.

I've been a pixel user for years and have always preferred it's photo philosophy (natural colors, not over-sharpening, focus on dynamic range) over the iPhone. I don't have the 8, but in most reviews I've noticed a couple of problems: strange out-of-focus areas in otherwise focused shots, shadow noise even at low ISO in good lighting, and softness at 100% zoom. The first two are the most concerning. I know there are a few blogs that have covered these issues, and Google has responded to at least one of them (shadow noise) that they are working on a software patch. Hopefully all of these issues can be addressed at some point.

I did not notice in your video if you set the resolution to 50mp on the Pixel? Its default is 12. You have to change it in the Pro setting. You should compare the 2 and see if there is a noticeable difference

Dear Asbyt, great video, great comparison. In- you are absolutely right. Based on your report it is hard to decide. At the beginning of the video you showed the dark mode photos. The Pixel bring up a much better detailed photos. You can see the clouds in the sky where the Apple only shows the dark sky. Much more details with the Pixel. I loved that shot. But when coming to the x2 factor of the Tesla, It is the positioning. The Apple looks much better. But you can reach same photo with Pixel, when moving two meters in to the direction of the car or the flowers. I don`t like the blurred faces at the Apple in Portrait mode. The Pixel shows more detailed faces with all skin effects and so on. But at tht end with the church and the watch, the Apple brings better performance and details. The brickets were more soft at the Pixel. But this is in comparison strange. As at the beginning the Pixel was better in details and Iphone to blurred. At the end exactly otherwise. But as I love to have more details and not yellow faces with warm colors and natural ways, I will go with the Pixel 8. If I want to have warm colors I can adjust by myself in Pro mode. I am not an apple fan by any measure, but I do have to say this is really close and comes down to preference. The Iphone Is known for great photos and videos. BUT the pixel likes to play around with software. You can really see the mindset from both companies. Apple rather keeps the details including the noise. Google aims to clean up the noise with the risk of losing some detail. To be honest I would rather prefer Google take the Apple approach BUT I absolutely detest IOS. So with that said, if all goes well my pixel 8 pro will arrive tomorrow XD

Had the Pixle pro for 2 days, damn phone. The camera is terrible in the dark, the flash light is weak and yellow in color. A lot of flickering during video. The mobile feels cheap when you hold it, a lot of sharp edges and ill-fitting aluminum frame. Screenshot images flicker.. Media volume turns on max strength even if I adjust the volume down. Also annoying these Google things that Google will push on me, first free, then pay, mafia is the right thing here. Returns the crap, and starts my Samsung S21 plus.

Every review has video better on the iPhone and as that is 50% of what the camera does then the iPhone only has to be better in one or two situations with photos to be the better choice, which is easily does. So, until the Pixel can be reevaluated with the extra video features coming in a few months, the iPhone wins this by default due to its better videography. In photos they swing back and forth.

for me; if it is not reliable it is not required. Plus in both front and back video human subject appears plesant in iPhone which is requirement for today's social media. I was looking for androids as it is impossibly annoying to get data out of iPhone using windows operating system (old school) via USB and keep offline backup.... iphone pushes you to use iCloud ==== On other hand here is no android phone which comes close to reliability, video stablisity and how plesant it appear on social media. ---- I wonder why phone giants cannot understand that it is no more about number of pixels and how sharp images appear at 1 thousand megapixels; end of day it is about how effortlessly, simply you can get great images out of your phone and share on social media; even 8 MP will do.

Iphone is way better in taking videos. Maybe google should put lase detection in the front camera to stabilize selfie videos.

I would buy a Pixel over an iPhone due to the AI plus I love Android too much to change. iPhones still lack customisation options and that home screen hasn't changed enough to me from the iPhone 3GS days 🫣

To my eyes and ears, the Pixel has a much better camera, whereas the Apple has a better sound. But I'm guessing both features can be fixed by tweaking the software.

Apple is too dark most of the time and noisy too especially with the zoom. As this is early software Google will improve the quality as they did before

People dont really used the 8pro if they say skin color are better on the pixel, the skin tones on the google phone are so bad compared to the iphone pro max and samsung s24ultra, cant even talk how bad is the selfie camera on the pixel

Apple has photographic styles which you can flex for cooler photos if that is your choice. Most camera phones aim for warmer photos as they attract views when uploaded to social media, hence Apple default of warmer takes.

i think pixel 8 pro great smartphone because we can do more customisation on camera system like what we actully want .
