Giving it serious consideration for my first "real" Espresso maker. I have an Ascaso I Mini I 1 in polished finish on order, this would be an ideal companion for it. Enjoyed the informative video.

Quick question. My barometer doesn't move when extracting the coffee. Does that mean it is a faulty one and do you know why is that? The coffee comes watery, long and with no foam at all.
@milos.sladecka3 жыл бұрын
what is the offset settng on your pid, as you have 90C? factory setting is: offset=0, temerature 100C, according to ascaso real head temperature is 5-7 C lower than pid setting.

Making a great espresso is extremely challenging, the tamp has to be perfect, the grind size and the temp. But to make a good espresso for yourself, it's not so difficult. Just bear this in mind, it's not as simple as it looks :)

Great video- thank you! How are these machines for workability down the road? Are they repairable, generally speaking? I have held off cheaper machines as so many are disposable these days- this seems well made. I guess what I am asking is- is this serviceable? Thank you!

Hi Slawek. I love my Ascaso Dream (non-PID), but sometimes I get an espresso "explosion" when I remove the portafilter from the machine. What am I doing wrong? I'm sure this is rookie mistake. Thanks for your help!
@stefdriver4 жыл бұрын
I think you have a bad solenoid valve. Mine had to be replaced. It is supposed to release the pressure when the brew cycle ends. You are removing the basket while it is still pressurized causing the explosion.

Thanks for the video!! I have a Dream PID with the following settings [Ud:C, Pr:5, Cr:On, off:Off, U:0.0][Prg:89]. When I start the service the pressure rises to 8bar, then the pump stops for 5-10s, followed by the pump resuming to an operating pressure of 10-11bar. Any idea why the pause in pump? This just started happening. I’m considering returning it if the pump is failing after only 1 month of use.
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada5 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you have preinfusion enabled. The pump pre wets the coffee pauses and then begins the extraction. You can turn this feature off if you don't like it. Also the pressure can be adjusted by turning the expansion valve, so you can lower that to 9 bars as well if you prefer
@stephanoszunez71855 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the explanation!!! I thought I had pre-infusion on from the beginning, but maybe I didn’t set it properly. I’ll experiment with the Pr setting.

Hey! Great video, thank you for your impressions. I am currently looking for a thermo block machine with PID and pressure regulation and have the Ascaso Dream PID in mind or a Quick Mill 3130 Evolution 70. Do you have any experience with the Quick Mill can you say how it compares to the Ascaso? Thank you!

hi there, would like to clarify 3:45 statement. This machine has a single boiler which heats up the water before it goes through another thermoblock? or that the water goes through a heated thermoblock. cheers

Hi guys, I was wondering if you could help or guide me towards my problem. Since you have many Ascaso spare parts, you may be experienced with this. I have a Dream PID which started having problems in the LCD (one of the numbers is missing a line, for instance the "0" becomes an incomplete circle, or the "8" looks like a "9"). Then, the on/off front light stopped working together with the light of the water reservoir. The rest of the machine works fine, and coffee is extracted as usual, but I'm getting worried this problems may become more sever and the electric part of the machine might stop working all together. Do you guys have any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks in advance

I solved it by programming preset 2 to a very long time (about 40sec), so I turn the flow off at the moment I have about 46 mililiters of coffeee (I have scale for it under my cup).

Can you help me please: 1. Water comes out immediately from the frothing of the milk and the milk is not frothed at all. 2. In terms of the types of heads, which head is suitable for which type of coffee? The taste comes out not tasty of the coffee.And at the end there is no brown foam.
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada3 жыл бұрын
Hi, if you are not getting Crema on your coffee it is likely because your coffee is not being ground fine enough. Your shot should take 22 to 30 seconds for about 60ml of coffee for a double and 30ml for a single shot. For the milk, it is normal to get a little bit of water out of the steam wand when you start frothing but it should turn to steam. Watch our video on latte art and how to froth for more tips on steaming
@jcmehner62186 жыл бұрын
Is the shot controlled by volume or time? You said volume but the meter counted time. Question is for when dialing in a new coffee brew is going to stop on the time or the volume while I am adjusting my grind?
@iDrinkCoffeeCanada6 жыл бұрын
It is volume. The time will vary depending on your grind.
@stephanoszunez71855 жыл бұрын
The controller set point is TIME (seconds), volume varies with grind size.

@stefdriver4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely it should move when you are brewing coffee with any amount of pressure. The finer the grind the higher the pressure. If you can’t grind fine enough then use the supplied pressurized baskets.

@iDrinkCoffeeCanada5 жыл бұрын
The dream pid has more features than the infuser. It has true volumetric dosing not time based and it has beautiful retro styling. The price is more than twice as high though. Breville machines are hard to beat in terms of value so if that is an important consideration go with the Infuser but if you value the beauty and volumetric dosing going with the Spanish made Ascaso

You can do shots back to back. The temperature stability of the thermoblock is very good
@stefdriver4 жыл бұрын
I would give it about 30 seconds to stabilize. It will not be at the temperature set point until the heater light stops flashing. The Ascaso PID doesn’t show actual temperature once it reaches the set point the first time.
