The stronger your faith, the brighter your way to him that is lit, and He has promised that He has conquered the darkest grief in your heart, which is the life that is brought into the darkness itself. Seek life and you will always find Him, who will take the water from your eyes to flood the barren fields inside your heart.

In 2016, my family's home caught on fire 3 days before Christmas. I was across the globe from my family when this happened. My family wasn't able to join me in the Philippines for our Christmas family vacation. This was my first Christmas and New Years without my family. We are very active in our church and I've served with the Youth Ministry for 5+ years at the time. My younger siblings kept asking me why God would let that happen to our family, but man, the support and love that we were given from our relatives, friends, Church, and community was incredibly overwhelming. All we lost were material items but God reminded us how loved we are through his people. 4 years later, our house has been rebuilt and we live our lives extra grateful everyday.🙏🏻 Friends in Christ, our Heavenly Father is faithful! Trust in His timing and plan. God bless! I'm praying for you all!❤

I remember when I lost my wife to cancer. I was in a small 10 seater Chapel feeling really sad and alone with a great weight. A fellow parishioner who knew of my loss was leaving and took the time to stop and put their hand on my shoulder. No words were exchanged. It was a hand of compassion, love and a hand that told me they knew of my suffering. My suffering wasn’t taken away, but my sorrow was lessened for a moment and I didn’t feel alone in my suffering.

Indeed the evil in the world can shaken ones faith, but you, my brother in Christ, remember this: People wonder if God is good, how come there is tremendous suffering and injustice in the world, but doesn't the world reject God? If God is good (as goodness in itself), if He is Love, Mercy and Justice, and yet people rebell against Him, walk away, and live as if He didn't exist then... what can they expect if it's not evil, hatred, injustice from this world away from God? If the suffering of the world proves something, if anything, is that people cannot be good without the Grace of God, if it was possible then: where is their paradise on Earth? God bless you brother, don't forget to offer your suffering, put them in the Cross of Jesus, so He may use it to redeem sinners.

@juliancuratolo89284 жыл бұрын
@@peppy619 God bless you Brother but I feel I have to play devil's advocate. You asked if God's grace is the only thing allowing us to be good then you're going to run into problems because (while it may be true that God gives them the grace to be good) many atheists are by human standards called good, and the continuing growing atheistic countries in Scandinavia are the happiest countries on earth(but you could make the case that's subjective). One could also bring up how we can agree that God or not suffering is bad and has no morale value unless it brings good. Of course you could say that there is suffering because a world that has some suffering but transitions to heaven is a greater morale good than one that has perhaps the minimum amount of suffering and transitions to heaven... but then you would have to say that a transition from hell to heaven would then be the greatest morale value. But if you have a better argument and can help me please do God bless Edit: they may also bring up that animals can act in altruistic ways for the good of the society and for evolutionary purposes but that's a whole different rabbit hole Edit2: I thought it over and one argument you could make is that it's not about suffering to good but free will to good Also that while we may not see the good coming out of intrisaclly evil acts that doesn't mean that there wont be any good, it makes it unlikely... so it would be making a probabilistic argument against an all sovereign God. Still let me know if you have a better argument

"He never promised you will not experience grief" - according to the video - What did Jesus actually promise? "And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:9-10) "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, IT WILL BE DONE for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. (Mt18:19-20)" In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; THEY WILL PICK UP SNAKES with their hands; and WHEN THEY DRINK DEADLY POISON, IT WILL NOT HURT THEM AT ALL; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. (Mk 16:17-18) "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and THEY WILL DO EVEN GREATER THINGS THAN THESE." (Jn 14:12) - Primitive people believing these may really be encouraged to follow his religion.

I am blessed to have the opportunity to have an ear to listen to Father Michael’s reflection. I have been so down in recent days due to many hardships. God answered my prayers to trust in Him, not the passing world. I need to pick up my cross and follow Him, your created me out of the goodness of His merciful heart! Father Michael, God bless your ministry, as I am one of your biggest fans! May His Will be done in all our lives! Jesus, I Trust in You! JMJ ✝️🙏

I have never blamed God for anything that has happened to me. I've always blamed myself. Yet I do pray intensely, I just don't see Him as the one causing strife in my life. I feel it is my problem. Claire.

I’m so glad that you pointed that out, and you pointed out the distinction between suffering and the love of God. God never stops, loving us even in times when we are looking for someone or something to blame for our suffering and would choose him. He knows we know it’s not him, but we are just in so much pain that we have to have someone to blame. You also made another statement that was important and saying that you’ve had suffering and gone through disheartening things in your life but there are a whole lotta people out there who’ve been through worse. That’s what I think that’s how I think I’ve got a boatload of things that are wrong with me and we’re not gonna them off one by one. But I know that there are children who will never grow up teenagers who will never got to go off to college Men and women between 20 and 35 who will never find their soulmate, or if they do may not be able to conceive a child. We all face some suffering in our life. It’s how we handle it that matters at least that’s my opinion.

Standing by and allowing evil to occur when you are aware of it and could effortlessly act to prevent it makes you at least partly to blame for that evil. It's no different from seeing a horrible crime or accident happening to someone near you and refusing to even pull your phone out of your pocked to dial 911 to help them. And if you're a God who set the entire world in motion with perfect knowledge of everything that would ever happen in it, then you are most certainly to blame for all of those things. You are right that how we handle suffering is what matters, but that is because we are obviously the only ones who care enough about each other's suffering to do anything about it. We might choose to be angry at God for that, or channel our feelings in some more productive direction, but such a detached and callous being certainly deserves no love, admiration, or worship from us for that detachment, even if we thought it existed.

It is a blessing to never question your faith. I tried once, because things were really bad, but couldn’t. I feel His love anytime I think of Him, even when feeling my worst. It is quite a blessing.

Thank you for these valuable words. I was often (wrongly) told, that being a believer, christian, catholic, I should be always happy and I shouldn't go through suffering or tragedies. Yet I find no promise of happy, successful life in what God and Church teaches us. Of course, there is a promise of Heaven, but until then we may experience a great deal of suffering. As you said, God won't take it all away, but He will be with me, with us, in all these tragedies.

I've been reflecting on this because so many friends have always asked me why I believe in God and how I could believe in a loving God that allows evil. I think I have a pretty good answer based on logic and church teaching/scripture.

What is it because even though I'm Christian I'm having a somewhat difficult time reasoning this one out and I could see how some of my non believing freinds could doubt. For example one may say "if God is all powerful, then why would he only be present and still allow suffering.. if you say God is an all loving God how do you reconcile his allowment of suffering to occur since we can objectively agree that suffering is bad" My response may then be that "suffering is bad only when it is pointless (because I don't see how needless suffering could be neutral or good) so if we agree that suffering that causes good is good, could one also see how with a world of suffering transitioning into a world of perfect good(heaven) that that may have greater moral value than transferring from a world of non suffering(or minimum suffering) to a world of perfect good.(because the difference is objectively greater)" But you then have countless examples of what looks like needless suffering and to tell them to have faith that that will turn to good doesn't seem like it would work or seem reasonable. And another plot in my argument is that if it's better to transition from a world of suffering to heaven rather than a world of no suffering then heaven... wouldn't the greatest moral value be to transition from a world of complete suffering (hell) to heaven since that is the greatest possible difference. But maybe one could go down the free will route. So I'd like to hear you're thoughts God bless Edit:I thought it over and one argument you could make is that it's not about suffering to good but free will to good Also that while we may not see the good coming out of intrisaclly evil acts that doesn't mean that there wont be any good, it makes it unlikely... so it would be making a probabilistic argument against an all sovereign God. Still let me know if you have a better argument/response

Thank you Fr Mike. This is one BIG question and one of the first I was confronted by God after my conversion. At that time I felt that by saying yes! it was the answer to all my problems... Little that I knew it was only the beginning of a long healing journey. Four years later I find my self back to the 'pool' and back to the same question.... so I keep saying yes, yes, yes I want to be well! The road is long and I might not get there in this life but my heart wanted only Him all the time. God keep blessing and protecting you. Amen

John 16:33 "I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have conquered the world." AMEN Fr. Mike! I think many, especially me, have thought that God would just be a bulldozer/lawnmower parent for us. I have beeen going through this metanoia for quite awhile. I do not think this transformation ever reaches an end. There are no plateaus following Jesus, there is only more.
