This is probably one of the best tutorials I've ever seen. Not on just aseprite, but anything ever. Such a clear demonstration of all the components in a well-ordered manner. Plus the custom art in the program just makes this incredible.

Having exclusively used GameMaker's sprite editor in the past, I really like what I'm seeing here! Management in GameMaker was a real pain, and not having layers was a bit taxing, but I also wasn't interested in using Photoshop for the same reasons you mentioned, especially the animation runaround. I'll definitely be trying this out!

This is the best tutorial ever. Straight to the point, shows how things works, short cuts and how to use them, and gives a lot of really useful tips and advice. I liked how you made a pixel art for the tools.

Wow! This is a really good tutorial, my mum is buying Aseprite for me for Christmas, I’m planning on using it to make sprites and tiles and all that good stuff for RPG maker 2K3 which I got recently. I plan on making a Yume Nikki fangame with it, let’s hope it goes well!

I got aseprite about a year ago from a friend's suggestion but the interface was just too overwhelming. I didn't know where to start, what palette to choose, etc so I just gave up on it. Now I regret not seeing your video sooner, I feel so motivated to do some pixel animations now. Thanks for the great tutorial!

One of the greatest tutorials on anything I've seen on KZbin. Gave this video a like. I think you should do more comprehensive tutorials like that for Aseprite, as well as other graphic tools and anything you feel competent at really. Had a great time watching and learned a ton, thanks MortMort.

I bought both Aseprite and Pyxel Edit. Aseprite is what I've used most so far because of its simple UI. Great video!

This video actually blew my mind. I just got aseprite a week ago and had no idea what the magic wan did so I never clicked it and i spent time pain stakingly selecting things using the lasso XD

By the way, you can also click load palette then choose an image to get a palette from an image. Also the "I" button AND alt buttons take me to eyedropper tool. I personally use "I" because I like it's position on the keyboard. Just thought I would point this out.

Fantastic video! Would have loved to have a visual representation of your mouse on the screen, so that we can see what buttons you click and when. (Like the Blender plugin that shows what's pressed on the keyboard on the screen, but for the mouse)

I'm really considering buying this. In fact I'm almost certain that I will --it's $15 on Steam, it's cross-platform (including Linux!), and it is tailor-made for pixel art. I did pixel art for a decade on MS Paint and I always wanted these features. I've recently played around with GIMP (Linux's version of PS) and Pinta, but I really love the look of this program.
