We have concerns about our son's behaviour and have recorded these to show our paediatrician at my son's developmental assessment. I am worried that these are early signs of autism.
1. Ignoring Mummy in the car. Ash is busy turning his ball and will not look at Mummy. 1y5m2d
2. Ash busy spinning wheel in bathtub while ignoring Mummy. He does not interact with anyone including his friend. 1y2m27d
3. Ash does not play with toys appropriately. He only spins the wheels of cars. Does not pretend play. 1y4m12d
4. He likes to spin himself on the floor.1y4m17d
5. Ash is not deaf. He used to respond to his name but rarely responds now. Notice his repetitive hand movements. 1y25d
6. Showing hand flapping and repetitive hand movements to music. Even when the music stops, he is still moving his hands.1y7m12d
7. Early hand movements (twirling) at 6 months old. He was late meeting many milestones and has low muscle tone. 5m24d
8. Finger movements near eye and squinting. 1y4m15d

These are definate signs of autism it's ok though he is beautiful and has a beautiful mind...just have to train him and help him communicate through early intervention. Mi baby was premature born at 27 weeks so I thought the milestones he was missing was bc he was premature and a delay caused by that. He was later diagnosed with mild to moderate autism at 2. He is a brilliant baby who knows whole alphabet all the colors shapes and can read. (Well hes memorized his books lol) he is only 2.8 now and I'm so happy to have him everyday. Just have to keep learning him what he likes and can tolerate and how he feels. But other than that it's so much fun and joy to be his mom. Dont worry, ur baby is fine and will be a lil genius loll. Still a blessing

My baby girl is 2.8 months now, she was also born premature, 32 weeks and she also knows all the alphabets, can count till 50, knows all the colours and many rhyme. but, don't understand the things we say. She loves being cuddle, little less talking. Hope she will be fine when she is grown up. just make me worried some time. Blessings to your little baby.

@@nadiakhan6824 at the 18 month old Dr. appt is when the Dr. typically asks u a bunch of questions abt ur babies milestones. That's when I was recommended to see the pediatric specialist to see if there was a concern bc my baby was not pointing, responding to his name and a few other things he wasnt doing. After seeing the specialist I was told to call 311 and ask for the state dept to make a home visit and get the baby evaluated. I did that and by 2 he had all his necessary therapies in place. Speech, occupational and ABA (behavioral therapy) it's part of a program called Early Intervention. But it may be different in different states I'm not sure. But dont panick bc it's very early and they usually determine missed milestones at 18 months. As for now u can just show the baby as much love and patience as humanly possible and try to bond in any ways u can find even tho it seems the baby may not respond a typical way. They still feel and hear u may just not reciprocate all the communication. Sing a lot to the baby bc music is a fun easy way for baby to catch on and they are interested in song vs just talking. So sing the ABC's and sing ur sentences to see if baby will pay u more attention. But definately get the baby evaluated! Bc the earlier they get therapy there are great chances they can even shake off the autism and turn it around!! God can do anything and pray for God to cover u and the baby and see thru ur situation to his will! Everything is going to be fine sweetie!!

There is no NORMAL person in the world. The word is neurotypical and this baby has signs of autism. But that does not make a non diagnosed child normal or a diagnosed child abnormal. I know many ppl and children who have no diagnoses in life and still do not seem "normal" lol People like to use words like crazy, normal, weird around when talking abt others but we are all different, think different and live different lives. Some to the extreme! Autism, and any other condition does not mean ur not normal. Just may not be nuerotypical

Have you looked into his head shape? Premature skull fusion can cause a malformed skull which creates pressure on brain. This can cause developmental delays among other things. Craniosynostosis is possible.

Because of their lack of responding, it often appears to be a hearing problem, but did you notice he responded to the music playing? I'm discovering that, despite all the things I've heard and read, autism is so much different than the image I created in my mind. For instance, I kept reading how autistic children can't make eye contact. While it's true that you can be standing in front of them saying their name and even waving your hand in front of them without so much as blinking, let alone look at you.....they can and will make spontaneous eye contact. There are times when my 3 yr old autistic grandson looks at me so intensely. The only way I know how to describe this intense look is that it's as if he is trying to tell me something telepathically or as if he's trying to read my mind. Other times, he has the thousand yard gaze beyond me. It truly is a combination of oddities. In younger years, something seems off yet perhaps can ge brushed as just being a quirk of some sort. In my case, the oddities reached a point where it began to interfere with daily life & activities, like not being able to let him walk freely & independently in public spaces because he's a runner/wanderer and has no sense of danger/awareness of others or their personal space (notably outside the typical norm in toddlers). They also dont ever look back to see where you are, unlike peers. While my grandson has moments when he's more subdued like we see Ash in the video, he's prone to making a lot more sound. As an infant, he had a curious knack for making all sorts of sound effects (helicopters, motors, trilling...sounds I can't make! lol) but not actual speech. I also noticed Ash turned his toy car over. If something in my house has wheels, he wants it upside down to spin the wheels. I have a collection of items upside down, including stroller, at any given time. He's got more play out of his riding toys with them upside down with no desire to actually ride them, with the exception of his tricycle that he uses his feet vs pedals. So many different things. Having said that, he's full of personality. He's got a great sense of humor, has passion in the things he does enjoy. Can solve complex cognitive puzzles & recognizes some letters. His communication is nonverbal, so we are literally creating our own language together as means to facilitate progress in other areas. Sorry this is long, just trying to describe in words how the image created in my head about what autism looked like was different than what it turns out to be. There are times when I thought for sure my grandson had a hearing problem! Shew......

Emm Sid god bless you. It so sad how this so called pediatrics will use 5 to 15 mins assessment to declare that your kid is ASD. I have seen so many kids with ASD signs but now they are smartest adults with good careers and the system is bull shit the should be 5 to 10 times assessments before declaring a kid. How do expect a kid who is not 2 or only 2 years to learn a lot. We are different so learn slow others are shark and it always changes are growth is concerned
@Mahakalidevi
@Mahakalidevi 6 жыл бұрын
Just because a person has ASD doesn't mean they are not intelligent or can't hold down a good job. It's all on a spectrum and most people I know with ASD are highly intelligent. Some are high functioning. The problem here is, people are speaking about things they have not been educated about. That's what's bullshit, thinking you know better than the parent who has observed their child from birth. It's better to catch early, so they can have the right therapies, so they can thrive in life.
