A mad glaze session? Hoping it turns out brilliant, let's see what's in the kiln today. What ever our ability level it's important to always push the envelope. However long it takes, stick with it. Let's try to go big, lets catch some air. Comment, subscribe and stop back to see if we go big again or do some mellow cruising..
Laurel Mountain has been a skiers mountain since 1936. I learned there in the 60's at 6 years old and learned in the 90's with a snowboard. So glad to be able to return here as they have been closed several time and thought a 'lost ski mountain'. So much beloved that during the lost years some even hiked in and up the mountain to ski and ride. Links below.

Todays music video link is from Cymande. I first heard them on a snowboard video in the early 90's. They stood out amongst all the post neo punk metal. From the 70's they have known how to stick with it and are still going strong today.

hellorodney Hello Rodney. Sometime I cant sleep for thinking about pottery, there are excesses of all kind. Laurel mountain's Lower Wildcat is the steepest slope in Pennsylvania not easy to get your mind around, something you need to do now and again. I do like a gentle cruiser too, with that in mind I love the visual beauty in your work. A really big THANKS for watching. Jeff

If you take them out to soon. Do they crack? ha ha I know the feeling we are both heading towards 60 . Gorgeous Jugs Jeff. The rough surface on them all looks great. Especially with the ash and glass glaze on them. So jealous right now. I really love your works and work shop. I finally answered your comments you left us a while ago. Thank you

Thanks so much and yea thanks. Always sad for me to see winter end. It's when I have the most free time to be on the snow and enjoy working with the clay.

Thanks for sharing this great looking load. You will be partially responsible for me using a little ash in my future firings. Tomorrow I will finish my studio reorganization and spring clean. Then practice,practice,practice............... Took me back to when I skied in the mid sixties....fun stuff. Always made it to the bottom most of the times covered in snow from falling.

If I remember right a natural protective coating forms on the kiln elements that can be taken away with the ash and reduction in the electric kiln. After this little bit of fun I'm hopefully going to let it heal up again. Using muscles I don't use quite so much I could fell it in my legs for about 5 day after this day on the slops. A lot of looking back for me too. A lot of 'fun stuff'.

Love the ash and glass experiments. What type of ash do you use and will it harm the elements? Maybe you could do a video of what you did to the jugs. People would be very interested. Cheers Wendy in Australia

Thanks, fun for me to come back to this video 4 years later. I've evolved to slip trailing methods of decorating as it's very suited to the electric oxidation kilns. The ash not exactly good for the element, maybe why I only did a few firings like this but there are a lot of potters using ash glazes. The ash was right from my wood stove, after dipping in a glaze I just sieved a little dry ash on the still wet glaze. I liked them and kept most of these pots.

Hey, can you imagined I never tried skiing or snowboarding, though I live in an area full of ski places? I love skating on ice, though, and walking on high mountains on snow and ice. :)

No I can not imagine living were you do and not skiing. Your towns, villages and mountains are beautiful, it must be what makes you want to sing.

Your videos this week from Myawanddy were great. If you've never watched Mark Wiens he just finished two great video series from Pakistan.
