I wholly agree with Ash’s viewpoint on the uncertainty of favourite characters in Xenoblade 3. Usually it’s Sena if I’m thinking about relatibility and “just like me fr fr”. But Eunie almost always gives me a delighted smirk when she opens her mouth with her urban tomboy Londoner bs. Taion is the coolest nerd I know. Lanz is a hardskin himbo, my type of guy. Mio’s story is so emotional. And Noah’s relationship with his “dark reflection” is deep. Riku is The Smol Chad. Manana is precious.

May as well give my top 3 games of 2022 now that everyone's list is out! 3) Live A Live 2) Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope 1) Kirby and the Forgotten Land Honourable mentions (featuring non-2022 games as well): Ace Attorney Trilogy (Trials and Tribulations being the one I'd pick if I had to chose one) Persona 5 Royal (got it on Switch for Christmas and I've been binging it since then) Kirby Planet Robobot (maybe the best modern 2D Kirby game?) Kirby's Return to Dreamland (loved the story/lore in this one; personally prefer this to Triple Deluxe!)

Loving the list, it's great! Now that I finished the games that I wanted to play before the end of the year I can say that my top 3 are: 3) Xenoblade Chronicles 3 2) God of War Ragnarök 1) Horizon Forbidden West Bayonetta 3 is for me a close runner up, but that may be because I beat it last night.

Dang, with how much love Xenoblade 3 got from the crew, maybe I should pick it up. I have the 3DS version of 1 but never finished it (will someday), I never finished X and I didn't even pick up 2. Still worth it?

Very worth it, all 3 games are fantastic in their own right. All I would say is don't let the battle systems intimidate you. I prefer 2's the best, but 3 is fantastic as well, and 1s feels clunky and poorly explained, but there's so many resources out there now to help you through if you wanna try the definitive edition of XC1.

You don't have to have played 1 & 2 to enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and its story, but I would say, as a fan, I got more out of my experience having played them. If you don't want to sink long hours into other games before getting to the one that caught your eye initially, you could simply start with 3 to feel out the series and work your way backward.

XC3 didn't hit as hard for me as 2, there was a lot I feel that fell flat in terms of character and story development, but gameplay and the acting was stellar I hope you eventually go back to 2 someday! Your list is fairly different from mine, but our #3's the same! Have a great new year, Ash!

I feel the same way, 2 is still my favourite in the series. Loved everything about it. I had hoped they would improve the exploration part in 3. Maybe added a mount to explore the would faster, and have added more exploration mechanics botw style

So doing an "aggregate" of GVG similarly to how Kinda Funny does: 1. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 2. Elden Ring 3. Kirby and the Forgotten Land 4. Tie between Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Horizon Forbidden West, and God of War: Ragnarok 5. Tie between Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes and Splatoon 3 6. Tie between Tunic and Signalis While I will be that guy and say "Live A Live is a rerelease and shouldn't count", I guess that gets the honorable 7th place.

Live A Live gets a pass for it being the first time it’s been officially brought to the west. Outside of emulation and language mods or whatnot, this is the first time anyone beyond Japan has actually gotten to play it. Excluding that though I do generally agree that rereleases wouldn’t count, like I’d never include the Klonoa or the Zelda remasters in any GOTY talk.

Nah, XC2 is anime bulls***. XC1 and XC3 is cinema. Art. Masterpieces. Exaggerations for the sake of joking aside, I like XC2, just not as much as the other two by a long shot. If you have a different opinion, more power to you, it's pretty cool. Great series overall.
