JB Danquah recommended the name to Nkrumah, but Nkrumah could have rejected it? The color of our national flag was Nkrumah's idea. Since he was influenced by Marcus Garvey, he gave the name Black Stars to our shipping line and our national team. Our national Anthem? He selected Philip Gbeho's. He was imprisoned because of political agitation against the British. He won massively in the ensuing elections.
