Ashen - Children of Sissna, All Quests Speedrun -

Wow, man. Just got this for PS4 and your speedrun has made the latter levels on Children of Sissan much more tolerable with a few of your teleportation exploits. Those choke points in Loom on CoS were horrible - that's when I found your speedrun. Amazing job if you're the one who found those. No idea how you did that. Just made it to the save point in Palace of Lathyrus right before the boss.

Its took me a week to get to the TSOA boss fight following your video. And I die to him on his first swing of the fight. Both Garoran and Amiren took me around a day each to beat. TSOA took me 3-4 days to beat on normal mode, I have horrible timings.

He is definitely the hardest boss in the game since you have to defeat him as fast as possible (due to wraith spawn). You can always try to use a tankier build but if you are playing in Children of Sissna I don't think it'll be very effective.

I've been running through CoS on my PS4 and my boyfriends PS4 and he helps with the bosses. It took me about 8 hours to get through the Palace of Lathyrus on mine and having had the practice before doing his, that run only took me an hour to get him through the Palace to the save stone. Mad respect for your speed run, I know you have a faster one posted as well. I can only imagine how much you practiced. I don't know that I'll ever be close to your level but it's been helpful watching you play.

also what was the reason for spamming enable/disable on the sissna fight? does it do something for the AI?

I did that to reroll the IA Jokell's stuff. Ideally I wanted him to have the Umbral Veil for his second life in case things goes bad, and a better weapon (not a 2h club at least). It was a safe strat, you didn't really need to do that to fight Sissna. This is an older run so most of the stuff I did wasn't optimized at all. There's a much more recent one where a lot more work went into streamlining the sidequests and I'm quite proud of some one those new setups. Anyway, take a look if you want to and thank you very much for the kind comments, it really brighten my day everytime !

He was disabling the ai companion in settings but it was reapering idk

A tip for people at 1:10:08: Falling down isn't an accident, you need to do this to prevent enemies from becoming aggro. I found out the hard way.

This is a very old run. I made a better version, more than 26 minutes faster. If you thought the tricks I did were cool then you should a look at it.

The game hasn't been patched in years. Some throws need very careful placement and aim, this one is one of them.

Regardless, I have NO IDEA how to make that shot, so I'll come back to this when I get to the closet save point.

Why remove armor at 1:05? I'm trying to decide on Wanderer or Disciple. Since the Disciple adds 15% stamina penalty just for 5% defense +5 stagger resistance. I don't know if it's worth it. Also I still don't see any full actual Children of Sissna playthrough of getting everything in the game. Or even normal playthrough. And using actual KB/Mouse. Users who make YTs like to play on some controller for no reason. And every single one blind not knowing wtf they're doing. At least that one user that gives locations is on real KB/Mouse. Yet still no real knowledgeable full playthroughs. Since speedrun is more about skipping everything. Not about actually playing through the game.

Because on Children Of Sissna You have -50% HP and Stamina. He obviously knows how not to get hit (you're most likely to get 1-hit-killed by most of enemies without ypur armor) so he cares more about his stamina. Any armor lowers your stamina recovery speed so going armorless makes you sprint more often, dodge more often and hit more often. The sooner your stamina starts to recover the sooner you can perform another dodge/attack which on this mode can be life saving.

How you hold big axe and lantern?

This is an old run, this particular glitch as been fixed in most versions of the game. But in case it does work for you, you simply select a 2h weapon and your lantern when your character is either opening a dungeon door or sitting at a ritual stone.

Good fucking God the Palace of Lathyrus is such fucking bullshit on this difficulty. You make it look so God damn easy.

CoS is nothing but frustration. I can try to give you some tips if you have not cleared the palace yet. The spear throws I do can help you to dodge most of the fights in the Palace. For the room where you have to defeat the two club ladies (2nd forced fight) you can cheese it by climbing back on the statue and spear them to death. You could stack armor to not get oneshoted but I would advise you to embrase the 1hit-KO and going into the Palace with the offensive talismans we use in the speedrun (Last Stand: get hit by a spear intentionaly to get the low health damage buff before going to the palace. Fury: Bring Jokell with you and let him die to get extra damage. Craft damage potions if you have extra scoria (Spears are not buffed by the damage potions iirc)) The boss at the top of Palace isn't very friendly either. He doesn't oneshot but you'll probably need to learn how to dodge every one of his moves and learn when to attack anytime it's possible. I discourage you to face him with a tanky build. Use Jokell as a damage buff through Fury, don't count him as an ally. Best of luck to you.

@@Anemion Thanks. This is actually really decent. Since video I kept finding has no idea how to play or uses controller. So that vid is the best thing. But not a real playthrough.

Credit where credit is due: CoS will get you only significant progress (max stamina, life, money, etc.) finishing quests. Feathers give you only a miserable +1 for both stamina and life. You don't have to imitate the Speedrun, but there are some very useful shortcuts within the crazy shenanigans this player pulls out during the Speedrun. I'm just 30 minutes in and I can even begin to imagine how long it would have taken me to progress up until the sea area without this video. He's doing the most essential given the constraints CoS comes with.
