Just listened to Logic's As I Am track and I have to say a few things: 1. Logic sampled not only this song, but also that little bit right at the beginning from Kid Cudi's - Man on the Moon (the song off the A Kid Named Cudi mixtape, not the album). I recommend taking a listen to Man on the Moon if you haven't yet. Great song. This really isn't a big deal for me though, due to the fact that a majority of rappers sample beats from other songs. It's a part of the business 2. I think the message on G.R.I.N.D delivers a more real and powerful message compared to As I Am. G.R.I.N.D looks more into the stuff going on right now while everyone's working to make that living. As I Am from my understanding is pretty much a subjective song about acceptance, love, and self confidence while in adversity. 3. A big reason on why I say this is because of the lyricism of both artists. Logic has some pretty straight forward lyrics that doesn't really require you to think too much. Asher's lyricism to me feels a little more intricate and flows a lot more smoother compared to Logic. Another point I wanna make is the amount of effort it takes to understand both songs. As I Am feels like a total no brainer when it comes to the point he's trying to make. G.R.I.N.D actually takes a bit more time and effort to understand if you're used to listening to simple lyrics all the time. Of course, this may sound a bit biased due to the fact that I only listened to As I Am. I don't know if Logic's other music is as any good but from what I've heard on it, I feel that Logic's delivery is found sub-par to Asher's. I know Asher has had some pretty simple messaged songs with I Love College, but over time Asher developed his craft and ended up maturing. I see the same thing happening for Logic's path, considering he keeps going on with it. I just hope he's not just doing this for the money instead of artistry, but I ain't gonna hate on him about it. People gotta make money somehow.
