This was a very interesting Bible, and I appreciate the review. I think abortion, gender ideologies and today's moral issues are hot topics today, and everybody thinks it's "loving" to affirm people with viewpoints that are against God. For example, I worked at a library here in Hawaii, and I refused to check out pornographic material to children because of my Christian faith. I was reprimanded multiple times because the Hawaii State Public Library follows the ALA guidelines - which means any person at any age - and I mean ANY age - can check out any type of material they want. I had a difficult time not yelling at my coworkers and manager because of their willingness to provide sexual material to children. These are the topics I want to see addressed Biblically and in a way that I can explain to others. I quit that job, I took multiple approaches on explaining the Gospel to them, explaining why I can't and won't go against my Savior, but in the end, I explained to them where they're going to end up if they don't repent, and soon. Thanks for the review, really enjoyed it.

What you said about the effects of David's son's rebellion on David's mental health hit home. I have experienced this with one of my daughters. The hurt is deep and is very raw. Years have passed and we talk often, however, the emotional damage is still there under the surface. It affects every conversation even though it is never mentioned. God cares about our mental health. I KNOW this but sometimes I can't see it or feel it. Thank you for sharing.

I love the concept of the Upside Kingdom. I have attended Gospel Coalition conferences, too, and have learned a lot. I like the authors of the articles. I looked them up. Also, I like the Bible's sidebars and the articles. As the adult leader of a small group of college students, I think it would be very helpful to use as a springboard for our discussions or to add to discussions. I agree with you about the fallibility of human writing vs. God's Word. Congratulations for 20,000 subscribers!

I am a new subscriber to your channel. As a 69 yr old mom, grandma, I find that I am not biblically prepared to discuss topics we are faced with in todays world. I so want to be! I want to be a Christian woman who is biblically prepared and well versed in Gods word. I want to learn and grow in God's word and be a wealth of biblical knowledge for myself, my family, and my community. I feel this bible would help prepare me in my journey.

Your infectious enthusiasm for God is clearly shown. One topic I personally wrestle with is to engage without being judgemental or employing equivocation in order not to sound judgemental. How do we honestly love one another for God's glory.

I'm a 60+ woman who recently discovered your podcasts. I love your passion, your commitment to be true to God's Word and your comfortable style. We recently moved to a new area and started attending a new church which is mostly older people. I have years of youth ministry under my belt and think the Upside-Down Kingdom Bible would be a great tool to reach the handful of young adults and high-school aged youth. I am not sure what God is calling me to do here, but I desire to continue to be able to relate and influence the younger generation in relevant and compassionate ways.

This is the first critique I’ve heard you do of the Bible and appreciated quite a bit from your review. First was the reminder to filter the commentary through the lens of scripture itself. I also knew and respect several of the people you named who wrote an article or contributed to the commentary. Lastly, I really like the theme of the upside down kingdom of Christ because as Christians we need learn this is how Jesus called us to live in our world. Thanks again for the review!

I've been interested in this Bible and have had it saved in my Amazon cart for a while trying to figure out whether or not it would fit what I am looking for. I have a lot of Bibles, but still feel like I have not been able to find the one that is in my mind, but I cannot explain in words, it's almost more of a feeling I get. After watching your review, this peaks my interest even more. Especially on abortion issues being so prevalent in today's society. I am interested in all of the topics mentioned that this Bible covers, but abortion would be one of the main ones, and hoping it delves a little deeper on how we as christians can explain it to non-believers.

I'd say the hardest issues for me to address from a biblical perspective are issues of sexuality and gender identity. I know what the Bible says about them, but I struggle to speak the truth in love to the people I love who disagree with the biblical view.

What I’m hearing a lot more and especially in the church are these teens that are unsure if their gender. That’s a hard subject for me to handle because I don’t feel biblically equipped. I don’t know where to go to find the right words with compassion to give these kids.
