If the pace stays like this as far as responding to player feedback then I have a lot of faith for this game. I am reminded of the BG3 beta and how the player feedback led to making the literal GOTY. My favorite change has to be the mounts one so far, that seemed like a big concern for lots of people and im glad to hear they are willing to listen to feedback even if its a little against the games philosophy.

They're adding stuff progressively because this is an alpha TEST. They can't just throw everything in at once, it would make troubleshooting a nightmare. Just like modding, if you add them in one at a time, you can see which ones work and which ones break your game

Bro, they're steadily adding the systems because they want to slowly introduce them to test everything more thoroughly. It makes no sense to just throw everything they have onto the server and just tell people to test everything... Make one part live, people test it, they work out the bugs, then they introduce a little more, people test that and they fix the bugs. The amount of things that might be missed and how overwhelmed everyone (the testers and the staff) might be wouldn't be good.

Flying mounts will be rare. Metropolis mayors and very rare temporary mounts available. Maybe 10 total on the server at any given time.

Bit of both. Corruption is an anti-giefing system that allows you to attack other players if you need to for whatever reason. It's not intended as a normal avenue for PvP the way caravans or node wars are.

this is shaping up a great game! I truly becoming hyped when we get it in.... 3-7 years? :D My biggest problem so far with it was the combat and skills looked boring and weird, but now i think its starting to look not just good but incredible. I find myself wanted to play every one of the classes and having big problems deciding. And i really like that it appears they went with a more classic sort of vanilla like approach to skills and classes instead of some modern uber spam extremely long and spammy sequence of annoying skills to do basic things. And i really like that the class fantasy seems to be very strong here, with signature gameplays that you want. Archeage was probably the most potential mmo i ever played, and ashes looks to be able to deliver in a similar vein but with a more wester approach to class design and p2w which is just great.

AOC should have told people buying alpha 2 that they need to update their BIOS to play their game. I bought the key but I couldn't play because the game is crashing after connecting to the realms because I didn't know that I have to update my BIOS to play the game. I played Pantheon out of boredom to compare it to Ashes. Holy shit what a terrible mmo Pantheon is. It is hands down the worst mmo I have ever seen in my life, and makes me have a renewed appreciation for Ashes.

If this becomes a game that to caters to PvP players instead of PVE…they will turn off a huge population of loyal people who would stay. PvP players jump from one game to another. First, you don't understand the PvP systems or how the game functions fundamentally, you should probably further your understanding. Second, maybe the game isn't for you, and that's a great thing. This entire idea of "this game needs to be this way to do well for ME and some others" is the problem with gaming. We now have all of these idiotic mind numbing studios/games trying to cater to massive crowds, swaths of people, instead of creating incredible games within their genres, styles, concepts, and design - it all gets squashed for accessibility. We don't want some massive care bear PVE, theme park MMO that worries about offending people so it completely ignores massive designs like robust PVP systems, it's already been done and exists. We want something new, and innovative that is able to take the best from many corners of these once great industries and create something new - and adult.

I always thought there should be 2 separate servers, one for forced PVP and one for PVE and RP only. BDO was huge on PVP, and while sometimes it was fun to get ganked and get your whole guild to join you and fight 15v15 randomly just because of one jerk, it was annoying most often than not. Look at Mortal Online, the game died not because it wasn't good, but because its pvp players killed it. As a new player you play for a few hours, enjoy it, then get out of the city and IMMEDIATLY get killed and looted by a perma red player. People don't like to waste their time like that. Sure, it's fun for the 15 year olds that play and have 8 hours a day to do so, but for the rest of us it's not. So just create servers like WoW does, where you can choose whether you want to partake in forced pvp or not. The most popular mmorpgs out there are 99% pve only for a reason, with the top 3 not having forced pvp. If they want to cater to that niche group, sure, but don't expect more than 10k daily players.

A lot has changed since then thankfully. The game has taken on a bigger and better scope, the development cycle is far more professional and organized, graphics engine was moved to UE5, and the studio is much larger. Very happy they decided to put in the work to take this above and beyond original scope. Perfectly happy waiting another couple years for the potential to actually have a good MMO.
