Stuart Broad close to 850 International Wickets, T20 World Cup Winner and 4 Time Ashes Winner. Congratulations on great Career.

What a days play for England. There was rain about early this morning in west London and with everything hanging on this innings plenty of knots in the stomach. Starc served up exactly what the pundits had called for - a wide 6th stump ball - and Zak promptly thumped it away. Broad’s retirement the only downer on the day. What a series and career he has had. Btw also sad to see the end of these Ashes podcasts. Mel Jones & guests have been superb.

@danieljamesmead Жыл бұрын
It would be extremely hard. It is what it is and has always been. Just got to accept it.
@spaceswan2605 Жыл бұрын
@@danieljamesmead It would be extremely easy. At the start of every series, a date and venue are arranged for a sixth game if needed. There actually used to be six tests anyway. There were also once timeless tests where play would go on for as many days as were needed to get a result. Usually a day or two extra, maximum. So it isn't how it's always been at all. It's shambolic that two top sides like this aren't allowed to play to a definitive result, especially when there's way too many one dayers.
@danieljamesmead Жыл бұрын
@@spaceswan2605 Sorting out schedules and budgeting for players, tickets, policing, stewarding, media, television etc etc etc for something that probably won't happen. They aren't going to do that. And what if that test is a draw? They're better off planning to try and finish rain-affected tests. A planned 6th day? Earlier starts/later finishes/shorter lunches on rain affected days?
@spaceswan2605 Жыл бұрын
@@danieljamesmead The venues for every series are announced months in advance, and with the majority of series, it's knowable by the third or fourth test if a sixth would be necessary. A planned sixth day would be ideal for the mythical sixth. Look at Trent Bridge, Durham, and The Rose Bowl. No Ashes cricket there this summer. One of those grounds could have kept a week free for next week as long as there was enough prior warning. I agree rain affected tests should be finished, but there's often a county game meaning it can't be. Later finishes sounds the best idea, so there's always a solution.
