Distrust of others comes from distrust of self. Because you might feel like you can't trust your senses anymore to tell if someone is f-ing you over or not, bc you've already been screwed over by some people in the past before without knowing and calling it out. Although this situation is clearly an exaggeration and overly-possessive, but not being able to completely trust your partner comes from a lot of factors - it can come from your past relationships, your parents’ relationship, if you observed your own parents and close relatives cheating on their partners, you do get a little paranoid or doubtful, or if you have been wronged by your exes. I get that it can become suffocating at a point, but I think it’s okay to pay attention so that you do not miss or overlook obvious signs.
