I love this! I love the new Pistol Annie's record. I never appreciated country music until Ashley, she is very versatile and her solo career is beautiful! I think loving Don's voice is a sentimental thing because it reminds me of my dad too, Don was one of first voices I heard via vinyl due to the fact there's so many Eagles records floating around.

You can never go wrong starting off with Van Morrison and ending with Elvis (no matter what you think of E.P., his gravitational pull is undeniable). Never heard of Fred Eaglesmith, Guy Clark or Levon Helm (or Ashley Monroe for that matter), but everyone else I have at least one favorite song. I nearly teared up myself when she was describing the Vince Gill song and how much it meant to her Grandfather. The Beck pick was the fulcrum they all balanced on. Good middle of the road tunes, not everyone is eclectic, which is just fine, and as Jimi said, "Just listen to the sounds - it's all freedom."

Sure, it can be done; but I don't think I'm alone in appreciating this WIMB series for the surprise selections. She missed out on the joy of venturing outside her comfort zone & finding something new to enjoy (on Ameoba's dime, no less!?!). Which I believe is a main theme of this series.
