I moved to England to be with a boyfriend that I had met while he was in holiday in the states. We kept in contact and saw each other a couple more times before I actually moved there. So I felt like I knew him. We were head over heels in love but I didn't know anything about him or his past other than what he told me. It turned into a nightmare. Too much to go into detail but there was abuse and controlling behavior. I finally left after 6 months and ended up staying for a couple years. But it was very scary being in that situation, so far from home knowing no one. I could of disappeared and it would of been weeks or months before it would of been discovered. Very sad what happened this sweet girl. This should be tale to really know who you're dealing with.

Such unusual facial features are indicative of foetal alcohol syndrome. His mother probably drank too much while she was pregnant. There are precise features that give it way, eyes too far apart, flat midface, thin upper lip, a smooth Cupid’s bow, a small head which (makes the face look big), and a smooth nose bridge. These features vary from person to person and the entire face may not be fully impacted, but the face looks odd/unusual and you struggle for the right words to describe how a person like that looks because it’s not obvious like say Down’s syndrome, but instinctively still know there’s something odd about it. You just can’t pin point what it is. But after you’ve seen a lot of people with it you can pick it from a mile away.

Ashley was the unfortunate victim of Limerence 😢 as well as falling for a psycho's mirroring of her, which psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists use to get you to fall in love with them, but it's pretty much you falling in love with _yourself._ I went through this with my first husband. It's very strange and twists up your brain...then you spend the rest of the relationship trying to get them back to "the person I met in the beginning." But that person in the beginning was never actually real! They don't exist! It was all a farce in order to trap you within the abuse cycle. RIP sweet Ashley. You didn't deserve this. To her family, I'm so sorry for your loss. 😢

She was a child with an incredibly weak support system. The average 11 year old would have behaved the same way, however they wouldn't typically have their parents send them off to be abused/killed. He groomed her electronically for a decade, and not one adult stepped in. Not a single one.

That happened to me, too. I was in my late thirties, but happy enough single, not desperate, and would never have considered him had he not convinced me of his true love and devotion. Plus, he seemed to share ALL of my interests! He was very intense. I finally decided that this was an opportunity for happiness that I shouldn't ignore. I can't believe how naive I was! That man evaporated after the wedding, and the belittling commenced. It was downhill from there. Never again!
@haji818721
@haji818721 11 ай бұрын
Although possible there is no evidence of either. Limerence would require an intense study of their relationship. There are signs there, but you can't truly know from a video. LImerence is not something someone else causes. FOr example, his behavior would not have caused her Limerence. Also, there is zero information from the video that would indicate mirroring is going on. Your explanation of the effects of mirroring are inaccurate as well. I think you may be projecting your own experiences onto the situation when they really probably don't match up.

In my opinion, the most egregious misconception is a person giving trust and credit to someone as if they've actually known them for the length of their online communications. In reality, they actually meet the real person the very first day they meet in person. Whike doing so dropping their gaurd and ignoring glaring red flags. She didn't know this monster at all. She couldn't be sure he's even the person online.
@jonathanconnor7920
@jonathanconnor7920 11 ай бұрын
Well, it's pretty easy to confirm you're talking to the person being depicted online by video chatting regularly. The people who get catfished for 10 years are the ones who believe _"my camera is broken"_ for 10 years. What she should've done was a background check. It would've been pretty difficult for him to talk his way out of that many years of physical abuse towards women. I would hope, anyway.
@darkmatter7266
@darkmatter7266 11 ай бұрын
There’s certainly ways of verifying and experiencing whether it’s by several different angles or meta-analysis of a repeat type of communication. People with any lengthy online communication in the last 15 years had to pass more tests than meeting someone at a bar. Someone’s digital footprint is far more damning than a handful of f2f meetings. A manipulative nutter will be that in person easier than online depending how savvy they are. Plenty of real exposures of folk that aren’t within our physical proximity not to mention the vast majority of online relationships that meet do not end up in anything close to this noise. It doesn’t mean be naive about it but it also doesn’t mean we can narrate the entire concept based upon extremes and apply it to all. Between Jack and the neighbor and whatever Ashley’s overall deal was - a lot of terrible things happened that didn’t have to do with online deception anymore. I can’t understand why the police weren’t involved far sooner and it’s tragic but there were a lot of faults here far beyond online subterfuge.

True but this still happens to people who meet in person. It's easy for someone to hide their true selves, unfortunately it's not always possible to see. The key is that if you're ever with someone who becomes violent towards you, you MUST come up with an escape plan and follow through.
@stoneysdead689
@stoneysdead689 9 ай бұрын
I don't think that's normally the case- you're looking at one very extreme case and acting like it's the general rule- when it's clearly the exception. There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of ppl who have had normal relationships that started online- some lasted, some didn't- but there was no violence or anything. I would bet if you looked at the numbers-you're no more apt to meet a violent freak this way than you are meeting ppl the traditional way- at a bar or something. Besides, yes the internet has made it easier for ppl to meet like this- but it's also made it much easier to check someone out and find out who they are before meeting them.

Running a background can only do you so good. You can run into two issues. The first issue you can run into is that someone could have already had a charge sealed which won't allow you to see it when you look up their record. The second problem is plenty of people get charged for things and not convicted. If you see a charge that did not lead to a conviction are you going to treat it as a conviction?

Just a quick search can save you a lot of trouble. Possibly your life. As you get older, it becomes more important to do this. If you have children, do not miss this step. Sounds like good advice. Would you say staying in public places and around civilization gets an abused victim to think more clearly? Because it seems to me, the abuser can get into their mind and make them forget that there are many more secure options out there in the world. I also ask because most of them are cowardly abusers and lose a majority of their power out in public, so I think even just being out there, with or without the abuser, involves the victim in the right thoughts about the safety they deserve.
@goose7574
@goose7574 9 ай бұрын
@@bentonrp Honestly, it truly depends on the victim, how long they've been being abused and _how_ they are being abused (mentally, physically, sexually, financially, etc). I was in public a lot and even around friends and family and although there were only 4 times of physical abuse, the mental head-games were crazy. The way a true narcissist or sociopath thinks is scary. I always tell people to educate themselves about the cycle. Once somebody understands that, it can help a victims friend understand what's going on better. I'm sorry if I couldn't fully answer your questions. Every situation is different, and the best thing to do, if somebody you love or care about is "stuck," is to try to talk with them privately (BUT NOT VIA TEXTING- you never know if their abuser is the one with the phone, or has access to the phone with a mirroring app or will look at it later). Conversations really need to be in person, with their cell left some place else so it cannot record anything. I know this sounds insane, but after getting out myself, I've seen/heard some truly scary stories of stalking. I would say now, that it's better to be extra cautious, in order to protect them. Lastly, remember that abuse can be similarly to addiction, where the victim isn't going to leave until they are ready (not that it's like an actual drug). It sucks... I've seen that personally with people, but it's true. If they don't choose to leave yet, let them know you're there for them when they do, try to not give them an ultimatum because they usually hear that often, and tell them you truly just want what they deserve and what's best for them... and for them to be safe. Sorry for such a long post. Take Care!

I was a single mama w almost 2 kids, a whole. Used up, and wasn't a good partner. Domestically, sexually, emotionally, etc. So at that point he absolutely had me convinced he hurt me because of my own actions. It was MY FAULT for not being a good mama and partner. And he ALWAYS told me if I ever left he'd kill me and have my son all to himself and I wouldn't be there to protect my son any longer. That one thing is the major thing that kept me there. But I KNEW his family could get the finest attorneys, mine would struggle to do so. Outside influences only give the abused a small escape. We are trapped more inside of our own minds and fear of harm to loved ones more than harm to ourselves. I shielded my son FIERCELY fm any potential abuse. I'd take the beating instead. So the thought of him killing me and having full access to my son w out me there to protect him kept me there. Now, logic says he would have gotten arrested and my son would be safe w my parents. No victim is ever at fault for their death, but--parents, remember that you NEED to teach your children to recognize red flags. Doesn't matter if it's pleasant to talk about or if the bible doesn't specifically say you can do so, it matters to keep them alive. The submissiveness and indiscriminate forgiveness religious girls are socialized with leaves them so vulnerable to terrible abuse. They MUST feel free to leave abuse and call police for safe assistance out of that situation. They MUST be encouraged to protect themselves. This is the alternative. At best, the victim leaves their abuser in blind emotion under extreme duress, and that is when the victim is most vulnerable to murder by their abusive partner.

Once again I cannot understand how a parent willingly knowing that their daughter was being beaten and staying with the same person who hurt her, don’t do ANYTHING to protect or even fly over and get their daughter I don’t care the age she was in Adult or not! I love my children and I would never give another chance to a person who has abused my child a second chance to do so! Parents need to do better! This was preventable! I cannot understand it!

Even if she didnt leave then i would stay over their and visit as much as i can and get any resources i can. I could never hear my baby telling me that hes beating me mom and not go over their once. I mean im sorry but getting them physically away from their abuser for even a couple hours can change a lot. As someone who grew up with my mom being abused and going thru it muself and living with women in domestic violence shelters. Having a support system physically their in your presence helps not be sucked back into their grasps. She had no clue what she was dealing with clearly by telling him she was leaving. Luckily with my mom she never told my father when we escaped shed always wait until he passed out drunk then sneak us out the back of the house. I have 2 daughters and i wouldng care if i was homeless outside i wouldnt leave without either one of them. Im not blaming them but parents we can influence and change things uo even with our kids being adults.

@@daviddesantis4040 I agree with you! These people are so freaking dumb thinking they could actually MAKE their ADULT daughter do anything! You cannot, no matter how much you may want to, make an adult board a PLANE when she doesn't want to go! Period, end of! These people are blaming the parents like it's their fault when the blame belongs only on the pos who killed her. All Ashley needed to do was say, "no mom and dad, I'm not going with you." It is easier to blame the parents when you have hindsight, but not everyone is afforded that opportunity.

I met my husband on the internet. I'm from Canada and he's American. I was VERY fortunate because he is a VERY good man from a VERY good family. I talked with him a year before I went to see him. I was 26 years old at the time. My father was a bit scared for me to go alone and I told him that if I don't go ... I will never know him. I assured him that I would called them every day which I did. I stayed there for 2 weeks and everything went very well. We've been together for 23 years and married for 13 years. I feel for Ashley's family. Her parents were worried about her like my parents were with me. This guy PLAYED with her ALL THE WAY ! There was red flags from the beginning but unfortunately she didn't see them. He was a MONSTER ! She told him she was leaving .... what a huge mistake she made. She would still be alive today if she didn't tell him. What a horrible tragedy May God bless Ashley's soul. My thoughts and prayers are with her family 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤

I watched another video saying that during the periods when they were dating other people, his girlfriends would call her to calm him down when he would act violent. And yet, she still went to visit him. This is 1000 percent his fault but this story is definitely a lesson for parents and young girls. That voicemail was a giant red stop sign. 🛑

There are so many women that get murdered by husbands and boyfriends here in the US. Thousands every year. The numbers are kinda staggering really. We are doing something wrong in our society in the raising of our boys. The jealousy and anger many young men feel is something they aren't equipped to deal with, so they lash out at the women or girls in their life. I wish I had the answers. Hopefully someone much smarter than I will eventually think of something. Then, we'd still have to convince half the country that it isn't woke, or less manly. America is a mess

The crime happened in Europe, England to be precise. So, the sentence would be lenient and light, as it always is in Europe and even Canada. I wish Europe could adopt justice system where criminals could receive a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for the rest of their lives. But from what I've heard, criminals who committed double homicide or even more receive only around 20 years in prison in Europe or even less. In Canada also, I think the maximum prison time is 25 years no matter what crimes you commit. I like the US justice system the most when it comes to sentences because criminals could get life in prison without the possibility of parole meaning they will spend the rest of their lives in prison until they die

I really believe that if she had had ANYONE to turn to, she would have left him. And anyone who knew about the abuse should have told her that you NEVER let an abuser know that you're leaving. That's the most dangerous time of all.

So sad this happened to her. Bad thing about being abused is that you sometimes just don't realize it is happening, until you are in it way too deep. It is hard to believe it is not your fault and it is therefore hard to ask for help or even believe you have to get out. My situation was the same. You are being bullied into believing you are crazy and you are the problem. When I believed I was crazy and I was the problem, I also started to believe I deserved the punishment (yelling, silent treatment, beating and even attempted murder and threatened with murder). When I got angry because I felt I was being treated unfair (for instance getting yelled at for buying a box of tea), I was told: You see you are crazy? The situation was that my ex did not have any form of income. He brought in zero money. But he did control my money. He controlled every part of my life. And me? I was happy when I was allowed to do the groceries once a month. Or when I got a gift from him (of course bought from my own money). Yes, he had his good sides too. And that is the problem. They are not all bad. They have a side so sweet, caring and gentle. When I was tired or in pain, he took over the household for instance. He cleaned and took care of me. That makes it even harder to believe they are a bad apple and they are abusive. Because you believe it is your fault and you only see the good sides of that person. You can tell people they need help and they need to leave. But would you leave your caring partner because someone tells you to? No, you don't. Same with abuse victims. And that is exactly why it is so dangerous and hard.

@@danielburgstrom7489 it's much more complicated than you think, because we're all such complicated creatures. Sometimes the good bits of a relationship are really good. Especially if you're naive, insecure, or suffer low self esteem. And you believe the abuser is repentant, because sometimes they actually are. Sometimes they are ashamed of what they're doing and really want to get better. Some do, but most don't. And the partner will stay with them knowing they've had a hard life, or suffer from depression, whatever, and feel they can't leave them. The abuser may make real efforts to get better. They tell you they'd die without you, you mean the world to them. But to be honest, I suggest you look up why people stay in abusive relationships ❤

@@danielburgstrom7489, maybe read again and understand what I mean. Most people have a caring partner. Would you leave yours? No. Someone who is abused sees it the same way. Sure, they get it that it isn't normal. But they do care and they are believing things that aren't real. Get it now?

Young people do stupid things. Most of us get out alive. No one jumps out of the nest expecting to die. Let this be a lesson on minding your kids business and stressing the dangers of the world. Chances are, they'll still jump. Abusive relationships are hard to get out of. The mind games really change you. In a perfect world, shed have left. Her parents wouldve came to rescue her. Yes, she didn't have to go with them, but at least they could have given it a shot. It is quite possible the minute she saw them she would have wanted to go. She wasn't completely in the dark. She was smart enough to take a video diary of what he was doing to her, also abuse is talked about so much now days there is no way she didn't know this was wrong and he was abusing her. I hope Jack gets prison justice. Maybe he can feel what it is like what he put all those women through and Ashley.
