The Martinez twins essentially described modern human trafficking with Jake Paul (and whoever else ran Team 10) as their abuser(s).

I’m sorry but the cut to the reporters shoes as he dryly states “I guess he didn’t like my shoes… I don’t think they’re so bad” is genuinely hilarious and honestly refreshing after all the ‘super zany random funny energy’ that Jake Paul is going for. Also just the context that it’s this kind of thing on live national television really showcases the absurdity of the situation.

“a seemingly unhealthy relationship” Jake got her to fly out then basically dropped her. he forced her to follow rules no one else had to follow. he physically assaulted her (spitting, throwing in pool, shoved her into bushes). he threatened her with tasers. he repeatedly toyed with her emotions on purpose. he kicked her out of her house for giving him a fraction of what he gave her. Jake ABUSED her financially, emotionally, and physically. this relationship wasn’t “toxic,” Alyssa was being abused.

yup, nearly textbook abuse/manipulation. controlling who she sees, controlling her housing, controlling her income. its a terrifying case and people need to read into it more. its the same set up as a majority of true crime stories, girl falls for guy, guy takes her in, guy is actually abusive wacko, girl tries to leave, girl dies. thankfully shes fine if a bit mentally scarred

(General warning ahead: I was so fucking baffled by how easily the wider internet has turned a blind eye to how manipulative and controlling this man's behavior is that I just accidentally wrote an essay about it) Before this video, I had absolutely zero clue about any of the abuse that Jake Paul "allegedly" did in that house. Until today, I was only aware of the hypersexual content made for a very young audience and his unethical marketing practices (literal scams included), but I thought that was the extent of it. But hearing those accounts from Alyssa and the Martinez brothers? That was genuinely harrowing. Just from the recruitment process alone, there were so many red flags that indicated how predatory Jake Paul's behavior was. With Alyssa, he literally recruited her from a _fan meet and greet_ . She had stated that she was just taken by him, falling head over heels for this internet celebrity who was showering her with attention, love, and gifts. He even offered her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join _his_ content house, where she could be a part of his world, and where she could kickstart her own career in content creation. Then, she commited to what's probably one of the most predatory contracts I've ever heard of in this modern-age, where she had to fork over a quarter of all of her revenue to the organization for five years, whether she continued to work there or not. That is insane. Lovebombing someone to that level, a fan, no-less, and then and abusing their trust to convince them to sign to your sketchy-ass content house. As for once she was already signed, Jake ended up using their situationship to drive viewer engagement, all while marketing this image of a relationship to a young fanbase that eagerly supported the relationship, further cementing Alyssa in Team 10 as Jake's _almost-_ girlfriend. Meanwhile, Jake kept the actual status of the relationship ambiguous, so she never got security in establishing clear boundaries; he was allowed to sleep around, but she wasn't allowed to have a single person over. He robbed her of the closure and security of a real, official relationship, and instead got to muddle the boundaries as he pleased, so she never was able to know where she stood. Not even mentioning the physical abuse and constant overstepping of boundaries that seem to have gone on in this relationship, the amount of control he had over every aspect of her life is fucking terrifying. As for the Martinez brothers? How can we get any more blatant than recruiting two impoverished brothers from a forgein country who don't speak English fluently to your content house in the U.S.?? Specifically, why recruit people who lack financial security, the means to effectively communicate with other people in the country you're taking them too, or any sort of bargaining power whatsoever? Then, later on, we got their account on some of the ways they were made to feel alienated from the others and coerced into doing horrific shit for the camera. It's so blatantly expolitative that it's easier to believe that it's a joke, rather than reality. And to briefly note something I noticed from the Team 10 Uncut thing: I noticed that he's really fond of throwing the word "ego" around. He'd shame new members for simply expecting the basic privacy and amenities he promised them, as well as anyone else who advocated for themselves or questioned Jake's decisions; he was literally conditioning the people around him to stop asking questions, and to stop asserting themselves, and anyone who wanted to do otherwise would get kicked out. I'm not even going to try broaching the subject of the teenaged content creators there - it's appalling that this content house was able to exist for so long. With the number of controversies, and the fact that there were kids living there at all, it's insane that the internet didn't talk nearly as much about this as it did cringe about the guy's songs. I know fully well that content creators with young audiences are far more likely to get away with shit, but the Paul brothers have enough public visibility that the abuse endured by the affected members of Team 10 should be a permanent stain on Jake Paul's name, forever. I'm genuinely baffled as to how this guy still has a career - isn't this something that thise tabloid-like publications should have been all over, when these allegations came out? From the information presented here, Jake Paul is an icredibly dangerous individual who has no business having any platform, let alone one made of kids. I'm glad that those brothers are far less relevant now, but I'm still in disbelief that after all of those allegations, nothing has stuck strong enough to ruin his career.

The defense that "oh I just didn't know what I was doing was negatively affecting people" is so dumb. He's basically saying "oh, how was I supposed to know that calling the twins racial slurs and making fun of their non-american accents would offend them? How was I supposed to know that constantly screaming and running outside would bother my neighbors?" And even if you really were naive enough to think that these sorts of actions wouldn't have any negative repercussions, the notion that "I didn't mean to hurt people" doesn't make any of that better nor does it excuse anything you did. Like that's not even an apology.

I watched Kati Morton's (the awful youtuber therapist in the Shane 'docuseries') for a while before she did that horrible guest appearance. Instantly I unsubscribed and have never seen another video of hers since. How can you be a therapist and then villainize mental illness to millions, the one time she got to go on to be in a video which would reach far more of an audience than she's ever had before. It still makes me so mad to see those clips. It sucks she still has a channel.

just want to clarify that jake paul did not grow up in a "shithole in ohio". westlake, the city where he's from, is very much mostly white, middle to upper middle class. sure maybe he wasn't from the richest family growing up but his family was almost definitely pretty well off. he's trying to do that thing that so many influencers do where they have a rags to riches story but it's not the case for him

“If only the neighbors told me to stop being a nuisance” is like saying “If only the police asked me personally to stop speeding”. Like you are being a public nuisance and going against the moral code of being a neighbor. Just because you can afford a house doesn’t mean you deserve one. You don’t get to do whatever you want inside your house without regard to anything around your property especially if both sound and physical things (like fucking gas, smoke, fire) are escaping your property.

@@Elizabeth-bz7jrThat has to be one of the single greatest things I've ever heard. I can't articulate it well rn but that is such a great comparison. Edit: I think it's a good comparison bc we honestly don't put kids in situations where they have the chance to go absolutely ape shit (and rightly so bc I'm not even well-versed in abnormal psychology but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt KN kids needed therapy after that show) so we don't see things like "Lord of the Flies" and it's kinda hard to grasp kids acting like that. But with Kid Nation we got a pretty good glimpse of how kids operate without adults in a way somewhat comparable to LotF.

From the same town as Jake and Logan Logan was way worse than Jake back then, but Jake was still an asshole. I will never forgive Jake for taking a video tour of our highschool and making up lies about my favorite English teacher. She was the sweetest and most lenient of the teachers I had at our Highschool. She was doxxed after the video and her family recieved death threats from his fans. Seeing the joy and care zap out of that woman as time went on was horrible. This was the kind of teacher that bought snacks and hygiene products for her students to take anonymously so we could feel confident and stay focused in our studies. She gave amazing advice. It's so hard to have teachers that genuinely care for their students and he ruined it, he ruined her.
