When you mentioned "they must go through some rigorous talent scouting over there" referring to the dancing. They do! Korea's music industry basically operates the same way American Football and Basketball do where they scout promising talent very young. Then they are recruited (signed as a trainee in Kpop terms) and they are trained at the teams training camp (record label training facilities in Kpop terms) and then eventually they either get cut or will get to start on a team (or "debut" as a solo artist or in a group, in Kpop terms). Just like in Western sports, Kpop has "star" trainees that people become fans of and follow before they even debut and people track stats and popularity and performance improvements and what not. It's actually really fascinating, and funny, how similar Kpop is to how pro-sports operate.

There isn't really a native tongue in kpop groups since not all members you assume are korean. Of course there are koreans but there could be japanese or thai or chinese or american born. Whatever the case is, they had to learn korean to be in a kpop group. 2 of them here are native japanese and did not speak korean at all at the beginning, 1 is american korean. All three had to learn korean since it was not their first languages. There are a lot of kpop groups that has members who also speaks 2- 4 different languages fluently and english is obviously 1 of them. For example the biggest girl group in the world globally is also a kpop group called blackpink. One of their members name lisa can speak 5 languages , 3 fluently and 1 advance, 1 basic. She was born in thai but is in a kpop group where she had to learn all these languages
