Im from England and we definitely wouldn't eat a full English every day. Some people will eat it maybe once a week on a weekend but not usually with everything on your plate. Most would only have one or two thin slices of black pudding. Not thick like you've sliced it. If i had a full English, I'd probably have 1 sausage link, 1x bacon, 2x hash brown, beans, a grilled tomato half, mushrooms, egg (1x fried or maybe 2x scrambled) and a slice of toast. I like haggis but that didn't look like a good one tbh. It looked more dense than I'm used to and I believe you can't have traditional haggis in the US due to not allowing some of the ingredients? Maybe that's why it didn't look quite right? Scones should be sweetish but not american sweet and are sliced in half and eaten with the jam and cream together. Biting it like a muffin theyd definitely be on the dry side. The pie looks like a "scotch pie" traditionally i believe theyd be made with "mutton" (slightly older lamb) but more often, they're just made with beef nowadays along with some herbs, onion and a little stock to moisten the meat i believe in a hot water crust pastry. Despite what people think about unseasoned food in England (and a lot of traditional fayre is in comparison to the US I guess) The UK is actually quite a melting pot of cuisine and things like curry's for example have become almost a national dish. Theres definitely some old fashioned simple food, but thats partly as we're a MUCH older country than many, with lots of traditions but there's also a lot of very good food in the UK. Just as i'm sure the US isnt all burgers or very highly seasoned or overly sweet food, the UK isnt all bland mush. Lol

As a Brit, it's not an everyday meal! It's definitely a hangover cure but also a "do you want to go out for a fry up?" Or a weekend breakfast. Black pudding is an acquired taste! White pudding is typical on an Irish breakfast and Scottish breakfast have tattie scones (potato cakes). Props for trying the haggis. It's better fried (I've only had it once!)

No caution needed. It's fairly simple, it's just black pudding is an acquired taste. White pudding/ mealy sausage is not typical on a full English. If you like sausage, bacon and eggs then the English is all good. Add mushrooms, beans, tomatoes and hash browns and you're good to go.

@leannehowarth69392 ай бұрын
I'm English, that is very much a hangover meal and even then you'd probably only have it a few times a year (or I would anyway). I would not touch haggis with a 10-foot pole, I don't like black pudding either. I've never heard of the white sausage. We just had pork sausages and they usually have at least pepper if not other herbs and things in them. We also often have a sauce called HP sauce or brown sauce which is very spiced and rich. The meat pie is usually just lamb or mutton unless its a pork pie, both are not made with organ meat. Though the pork pie has a jelly that's made by boiling bones and cartilage, it tastes like broth or bone broth and melts into broth the moment you chew. It sounds weird but it's actually nice and I have a very weak stomach trust me, I can't eat any organ meat without feeling nauseous. The scones are usually bland because you eat them with butter, jam and clotted cream not just the cream. Because I grew up dairy free I always used to just have scones with dairy free margarine and jam and I only had them a couple of times a year. English food in modern times is bland because of the wars, pre wars it was a lot more adventurous and we're starting to adopt more and more herbs, spices and flavours into our food in the last several decades. Though our grandparents and great grandparents don't really like food that has flavour lol.
