One thing I have repeatedly heard is that ATK is more valuable for damage progression than CritDmg, because of the equation "FinalDmg = (ATK-DEF) * CritDmg * DmgMult, which is mentioned here. If that is true, then DEF should also be more valuable for surviving hits than Health. The 5% limitation may push towards HP when sustaining single huge hits, damage reduction from skills, awakenings or gear is even more valuable than HP for huge hits. High DEF, however, makes a big difference from the perspective of how many medium hits get pushed down to that 5% minimum. Replacing a HP% piece with a DEF% piece makes a drop of about 10k HP for most of the end-game tanks, which is only a -10% of the total stat. The increase in DEF, though will be double. My King Harz still reaches 82k HP with two DEF% pieces, and his damage reduction is what allows him to survive the huge hits, and the high DEF makes his shields stretch really far for the medium hits. My Brokkir has two HP% and one DEF% piece, and has 100k total hp and 9.1k DEF... he also has shields and damage reduction.

the rage regen % stat only applies to auto attacks/taking dmg. The only other way to get rage passivly, is by using the set ash is using on his hex (3 flat rage/s). Other than that, you have passive abilities and ultimates of other heroes applying
