Now I find myself in 2022 … 40 years later and this song still holds true today. RIP John!

Miss this man / legend. I feel my life changed in 1982 when i first heard this song riding in the back of a pickup with friends. Its one of those rare moments when you hear a song for the first time and instantly fall in love with it.

Like yourself, I remember the first time I heard this song. Yes had gone on hiatus after the Drama album but were reforming with a new guitarist (Trevor Rabin) and were going mainstream with Owner of a Lonely Heart I was kind of bummed. Yes isn't Yes without Steve Howe. When I read that Steve Howe and Geoff Downes were working with John Whetton and Carl Palmer, I was stoked. Of course we had no internet to verify anything so I just figured it was a rumor. Some friends and I were sitting around smoking, um cigarettes...and this song came on the radio. I was blown away. I was glad Steve Howe was away from Yes because this was much better than the crap Yes had come up with at the same time

Back in the day I wasn’t a big fan of this song , but 40 years later it takes me back to my youth and to me it’s a classic now !

Until now at the age of 57 I never knew whose voice sang this song, I only knew it was Asia. It was a song from my youth in the very early 80's. Its reminds me of someone I loved very much at that time. Her name was Janet and we were just teenagers. Today I listened again and it made me smile and cry. I smiled for myself but cried for everyone who loved this song. RIP John. 🙏 Thank you.

Okay, so John Wetton had passed away? It is still great to see Steve Howe playing guitar and Geoff Downes on bass. Is Karl Palmer still alive and playing here in this video? And I must admit that now seeing John Wetton here being associated with "King Crimson", I am just NOW hearing that John Wetton is associated with KC. And, I had mentally associated Karl Palmer with a band with ties to ELP. Also the band YES to Asia. That one, I am NOT sure if I can tell you how I have linked THOSE band members up.
@landhopper42963 жыл бұрын
John Wetton on bass/vocals was KC, Steve Howe on guitar, Geoff Downes keyboards, both Yes, Karl Palmer the drummer in Emerson, Lake and Palmer (ELP).
@juliegogola46473 жыл бұрын
@@landhopper4296 okay, thanks for the info. I had been sure they had ties to those bands. I've never heard any King Crimson songs as far as I knew, but, Robert Fripp had made a record with Andy Summers from The Police, and I had that record, it was called "I advance masked", or something like that, and was all instruments with no vocals. It's not my usual type of music, but, I liked Andy Summers as a teenager, so, I liked it.
