The line "Mama cooked the breakfast with no hog" was part of the good day because he had recently converted to Islam just before this album. If you listen to the song with the context that it is a dream about what a "Good Day" would be, then you see the end where he "wakes up" to his reality.

I would say that every 80s and 90s hip hop song used a sample. That was a foundation of hip hop. Could probably say the same for the majority of 2000s hip hop. Slowly over the last twenty years producers started making their own beats from scratch more and more. But the first 30 years or so it was primarily samples of old soul, r&b and funk songs.

The Isley Brothers "Footsteps In The Dark"! The Isley's are a legendary group who could do it all! Their catalog is packed with masterpieces! They were formed in the 50's. Ronald, O'Kelley and Rudolph were the nucleus until younger brothers Ernie (guitar), Marvin (bass), and brothers-in-law Chris Jasper (keyboards) joined the group in '69 and with their writing abilities, formed the sound that would produce monster hits from 1970 thru 1984! The Isley's are the truth and you should explore their catalog!
