The Honghe Hani Terraces are located in Yuanyang, Honghe, Luchun and Jinping counties of Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The history of reclamation can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty.
The Honghe Hani Terraces are distributed according to the terrain, extending from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters, with a maximum of more than 3,700 levels. The village houses are located on the mountainside, and the canals pass through the village. Further down are the terraces distributed in accordance with the terrain. Forests, villages, terraces, and water systems are the "four-element isomorphism" farming system of the Hani Terraces. It reflects the original experience of the local ethnic groups in the selection of human settlement environment, ecological environment protection, social structure construction, water resource control and utilization, and production mode management. The Honghe Hani Terraces cover an area of ​​166.03 square kilometers. The core areas where the terraces are concentrated and contiguous mainly include three areas, namely Bada, Duoyishu, and Laohuzui, and 82 villages. Due to the different weather and aquatic plants, the Red River Hani Terraces will present different colors: blue on sunny days, gray on cloudy days, and golden in the morning and evening. Due to the different types and growth periods of plants, the terraces will also change color, showing green, red, yellow, etc.
The seedlings are green in spring, the crops are green in summer, the rice ears are golden in autumn, and the water is sparkling in winter. The scenery of the four seasons is different, and each has its own unique charm, exuding romantic and charming charm at all times.
