it's dehumanising and erases people's individuality, the only reason it was mentioned is because it's an especially 'popular' asian stereotype. @Tessitura99 жыл бұрын
Patricia Garibaldi I could be wrong (seriously, I could totally be wrong lol) and I'm not excusing those people at all, because that is unacceptable racism, but I think people do that not to point out how Asian you look, but to point out perhaps the way the picture is taken. I have Asian friends who take photos in a very particular way which is a part of their culture and honestly I think it's very cool (except how far they go to edit their photos/ make their skin whiter/ widening their eyes...that's a bit too much for me). But maybe they're talking about the photo it'self and not how "Asian" someone looks in the photo. Thoughts?

The one that actually broke my heart was when my own sister didn't want to admit that she was Mexican because she didn't want people to think she was ghetto. helloalexandraa Media portrays Asians as non attractive, unathletic, nerdy, etc etc It's funny how it can change your perception. I used to think that Asians were generally not very pretty (I am Chinese btw) due to the lack of representation in media. I never once saw an Asian model, actress etc while I was growing up. When I did, all I saw were nerds, geeks, martial artists etc. it's strange how they try and make you feel like you are worth less than everyone else. Everyone is just buying into the media and basing all of 'your people' on maybe one or two Asians they see on the streets. Not gunna lie, people are this ignorant and stupid.

I agree with you JadeLee13. This is what's wrong with this country now, people like this channel pushing this narrative that this country is, so evil and racist trying to divide us against each other. I mean you can be bilingual and be American. I never heard anyone say that you couldn't be, and I'm part of the evil straight white male group that is pointed at for the problem. America has systematic racism now it has come to that, because you can't see no individual racism, so it just is, because its systematic, and your racist if you can't see it end of discussion shut up about it. I mean they are turning gays against straights, females against males, race against race, putting every person into a certain group and turning us against each other over petty stuff. It's sad that we want to be, and proud to be Americans so bad, but can't stand up as just Americans against this, instead we just let it cut the whole fabric of what makes this country great into shreds. We need to wake up as a nation before our kids don't have what we had to look forward to having in the future. I mean why did the forefathers put together we stand divided we fall in the pledge of allegiance to this country.

@konydas22599 жыл бұрын
***** Obviously America. If you look at Chinese entertainment, everyone will be Chinese. If you look at Indian entertainment, everyone will be Indian. Every country, and then every language in that country, has its own entertainment industry. Almost everyone in the American one is American, but that doesn't mean that every racial descent is even close to represented. It's mostly various European, Black, and Latino professionals. Probably because they are larger parts of our population, their cultures are more well known, and so they are the groups everyone can more easily identify with. (I say Black because the culture of actual Africans is most likely different than that of those who have been in America for many generations.)

No one here has mentioned the video game, anime and manga/ manhwa or CGI industry at all. Isn't that entertainment with an overwhelming Asian influence? Hollywood isn't the only form of entertainment, and globalization has seen the integration and popularity of Asian movies and soap operas into western entertainment too anyway. Take comic con for instance. It is influenced mainly by anime, manga and video games, all of which are considered entertainment.
@daikon63779 жыл бұрын
***** But anime, manga, and video games aren't usually something Asian kids can look up to. Most children in America are raised by their parents and the movies and TV parts of the Entertainment Industry. The majority of TV series or movies barely have any Asian characters that are a large part of the series. Sure there are some, but most of the time they aren't really age-appropriate for children or enjoyable at all. There are background and minor characters that are Asian-American but we rarely see a MAIN CHARACTER played by an Asian American. Yes, there are conventions influenced by Asian cultures but we don't see it in everyday life.

I was walking down the street back to my house when a Caucasian man around his 20s literally tried to SPIT AT ME and I'm positive it was intentional because he was looking straight at me, not even TRYING to be secretive about it. He tilted his head back a bit to spit, meaning he was actually trying to spit directly at me. It didn't land on me, though it missed by an inch or two. I called the kids help line and they advised me to call the non-emergency police line just in case it qualifies as an offence and if not, the police can at least give me guidance for what I can do the next time this happens. I did, and they said if it DID land on me, it would qualify as ASSAULT. (I live in Canada and I am a Canadian-born Chinese female.)

Honestly, I love pointing out that I'm Asian. Most of the people in my school are English, and I love random moments where i can just shout "IM ASIAN" anytime. I'm the odd one out. Plus, i talk to them in Japanese if they annoy me. Works every time.

im white and black and someone told me a racist joke about asians, and i got offended because i was wondering why its not okay to be racist to black people, but its okay to everyone else. even tho, it has nothing to do with me, it doesnt mean its not right to get offended, it is right. Its right because its okay to get offended over something that is wrong.

I remember I just moved to a new school in 8th grade and on the first day we had to go around saying our names and favorite food in some class, and when it was my turn, this kid cut me off and yelled "CHINESE FOOD". Sad thing is most people laughed. I would literally get 5-10 Asian jokes or comments per day for the rest of the year. Most weren't malicious but it really did get old and I felt like all I was, as a person, was Asian.

Lol...People are talking about there experience with racism..So are you offended that they only include asians? 😂 If you are so mad make a video discussing that topic. buh-bye now 😉😂😂😂😂😂
@Midironica8 жыл бұрын
Her grievance is that a video about racist comments whites receive doesn't and will not exist, based on Buzzfeed's past history. White people hear racist things all the time, such as the presumption that they are racist, can't dance, have no rhythm, etc. And in future, you might want to try not being so patronizing. Might help you get your point across, if you have one.
@iloveasianboys16148 жыл бұрын
Midironica It's racist to say whites can't dance? 😂 Wow!
@Midironica8 жыл бұрын
I Love Asian Boys Yes. However comical it is, saying white people can't dance is equivalent to saying that black people can't swim or all Asian people know karate.

True When I was in elementary school, it was all 90% Mexican (No offense) and Asian made up 0.5% and people bullied me because I was a Asian and they thought I was a minority and that I was bad like a drug dealers and drunk people. If I can say right now, open your eyes, Asian make up like 60% of the world and all Asians are not bad

It's occurrences like the ones in this video that make me feel truly grateful to have had the opportunity of growing up in an international school with an accepting environment at home. Your emotions are your own and no one can make you feel anything without you letting them, so don't let them have all that power and control.

This happened to me just the other day a group of black and white guys slowly drove past me to a stop sign as I was working my way crossing the street to a food fare. Well one of them decided to call me Jet Li and my initial reaction was, "f*** you b****" and we exchanged a few more words after that. My anger got the best of me, but I felt proud of it afterwards because I didn't back down or let someone walk all over me. Sometimes you just gotta stand up for yourself and let it be known that those remarks are very disrespectful.
