Agreed. It must not be forgotten that humour and offence are two different things. Satire plays on stereotypes in order to be funny, it's the point. It's not ACTUALLY offensive to anyone other than people who are exact copy of the satire. In which case, they deserve to be laughed at. But satire removes the characters from reality, so finding people who match it will be pretty slim.

The first was very simple - an elderly man (possibly wearing a turban) steps outside to pick up his milk and/or the newspaper. The door shuts behind him and he simply says, "bollocks." The second involved Sikh policemen and their helmets riding bicycles, I can't remember much more than that. Please, if this rings a bell for anyone reading - help me to remember what I'm remembering!

lol! I used to sell second hand cars and if an Indian booked a test drive, they would ALWAYS turn up with the hold family. Sometimes 10-15 people. It was hilarious

No, that's nothing like when he does his genuine Indian voice - which, no doubt, he picked up perfectly from his parents - but that is the mix of Asian & Northern English which I hear very often in Bury where I live. I find it rather an endearing combo.

That's how a lot of Asians sound like up North [though they are native born and raised]. It's less common these days though [or so I'm told].

It's mostly the first generation born in the north who have that accent. I've noticed the younger lads talk like Ali G nowadays but I guess that's British youth in general.

All this shows to me is how backwards we have become.. It's a shame that we didn't build on great shows like these.. As Asian people, they are probably 2nd or 3rd generation and I know for a fact that they love the British sense of humor.. which is being able to make a joke of your own culture and laugh..
@RonWylie-gk5lc7 жыл бұрын

What are you talking about? This type of humour is still being built upon today! Just because it isn't on TV doesn't mean it doesn't exist on sites like Netflix or KZbin... television is dead, stop looking in the wrong places!
