I'm Vietnamese and so when I moved out of my mom's house I tell you my apartment was decorated in Asian Decor but that was a long time ago. I love these pieces and using the soy sauce as stain was genius . Needless to say I have bottles of soy sauce I can use. TFS Kimo and have a blessed weekend!

Hi Kimo! You are brilliant to even think of staining the wood with soy sauce!!! It keeps with the theme and stained nicely. I personally would use Beacon Fabri Tac to glue the things together. I love the final results! The style of the riser you made actually reminds me of the end tables back in the 60's. I really love ALL of your projects today...... simplistic and beautiful and creative. Awww thank you Janie! That is too kind of you. Long ago, I saw someone use soy sauce to stain paper, kind of like a tea stain or coffee stain. I hoped that technique would work for this project as well, and it seemed to work great! And yes, I totally know what you’re talking about with those end tables. We are on the same wavelength! Aren't you the smart and savvy DIY guy using soy sauce as a wood stain! I love it! I can imagine soaking wood in it for longer periods would create a darker staining. I like the wooden vase and would like to make 2 or 3 for outdoor centerpieces for the picnic table. Very nice work on all the crafts. Thanks for your time and work and crafty ideas!

I liked all of these projects, but the first project was my favorite. I could imaging making these in different heights. I just appreciate your style. As I appreciate the farmhouse style, my style is more classic... and it can be hard to find channels like yours. I will definitely go over and watch Deneen's video. How clever to use soy sauce to stain the wood! My favorite is the last, the Shoji Vase cover, but as soon as I saw the second project I was thinking it would make a great end table for my Granddaughter when she is old enough to play with Barbie dolls and put it on my project list:)

Thank you for this video. I really liked the stand that you made. Personally, I think I would rather stain the wood in a coffee or tea solution - only because the soy sauce may attract creepy crawlies. Great idea, though! Enjoyed your work.

Kimo! You know why you have the packets of soy sauce leftover? It’s because if it isn’t Aloha Shoyu it just isn’t good. It looks like it makes a good dye though. Your projects have a nice, clean style. The greenery in the Shoji screen planter does look like Bonsai. I don’t have a favorite, as you know. These are all so Zen I’m relaxed and ready for a 😴. 🤙🏻
