John, big big fan here. As always great review. I've used this shoe for the last 6 months and did find this to have hurt me a lot in the knee, i was in constant pain after my games, despite wearing knee compression (Age 37, weight 165 lbs, 4.0). For some reason, even being the best shoe out there did not work well for me. Also, this shoe isn't for the wide foot guys. For someone who has stronger legs and narrow foot - its an awesome choice with lots of color options. Thank you as always for a visual and informative treat - the best of youtube !

I bought the Wide version of the Gel Res 8 and to me it's more like a 'Medium+' and not that wide at all. Overall I find the shoe good but not great:- comfort and cushioning are middle of the pack; it has decent support & responsiveness and doesn't feel that heavy when worn; the soles have started to go bald on the inside forefoot edges after maybe 15 hours of court time so I'm not exactly bowled over by that. Not really a great buy for me but I see plenty of owners where I play so seems to be plenty of satisfied users. Shoes are, by definition, very personal and I found better performance for me elsewhere.

@@rich.e Its a highly overrated shoe. Its imperfect for hard courts as it is not as "spongy" and lacks "Foam".

Amazing video, you really said everything about the sneakers, I also feel hot on my feet, but I live in Brazil 🇧🇷, here the weather is always hot, my state reaches 37C. About the sneakers, I use them to play futsal here in Brazil, they are very comfortable, it is hard to kick, I am still adapting, but in terms of stability of the sneakers, it is out of this world, simply incredible. Thanks for the video, I learned several things that I didn't know yet!

Cheers John. I like the quality of Asics, however, their shoes tend to lack flexibility (much like your "rigidity" comment) in the forefoot that makes them feel like ski boots for me. I tried Yonex Sonicage 2's on a whim and fell in love with them immediately. Cushioned, light, and great ankle protection, exactly what I need on court for only $105. Unfortunately they are ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to find with Covid limitations, so I took a chance on Mizuno Impulses and am crossing my fingers they aren't junk. Thanks again and look forward to reviews of VCore Pro line or CX 200 from Dunlop.

Just bought these today. Trying them tomorrow. I have wide feet and these are the only 2E available. It’s still a bit narrow so had to go up half size.

For those who play equally in hard and clay courts, which version is better? Clay or regular?

Great Review as always...Love ur channel..iam using wilson clash 100 with yonex poly tour pro strung at 50 lbs but still I'm having elbow pain and ball is flying long if I open up slightly..so can I leave the mains with same string and strung crosses with luxilon alu power 16g with 54 lbs or should I need to choose any multi ? What is ur suggestion?
@bournejason662 жыл бұрын
Use multi or gut. String is just a very small portion for spin. Physics tells us the swing path and angle determines the spin

I do love the Gel Res 8s, but where can you find them anymore?

I get mine from Asics website. Best place esp if you want clay soles and better color selection. No discount but that's typical today.

@@peterochester2320 how does the warranty work if you buy from ASICS site? Do you still need the receipt? I heard you need to fill out online form with photo of shoes

@@jonathanchen1026 I remember requesting an authorization then dropping off at a ups location (Gel Challengers that didn't feel right). Didn't need to print out anything.

Pbly best tennis shoes I've ever had for hardcourts. Comfortable, light enough, superdurable, stable, total package. Not hot either for me.
