A pleasure to meet you Mike. Hope you had a safe trip back. If you're ever in the UK, give us a shout!

Kudos for saying it how it is, as it’s tempting to big them up hoping for more paid for promo opportunities. Still a good shoe but not a Vaporfly. Folk outside the UK don’t understand, but when you run during the winter and spring in the UK even 20 degrees fees hot by comparison. It’s a matter of having time to acclimatise. I’m Spanish by origin but I live in the UK and still need that acclimatisation period

Thanks for the comment and the note on the conditions! Just be clear, we're not paid to promo anything for Asics. We were both there as journalists to cover the event. It's still early testing for us, so we will definitely reserve judgement on the shoe until we've been able to match the level of testing we've already done with the Vaporfly.

@@TheRunTesters ok understood. With various KZbinrs there I assumed that travel, accommodation and expenses may have been met by them which would constitute a form of benefit. But noted your roles as independent journalists. Nice video 👍

I love how Asics, a Japanese brand, connects the rest of the world in this one of a kind event. Metaspeed Edge+ next?

Polar: In my experience (many models through time, not yet the Pacer), you can still use them when they say low battery. You just have to press a button to get past the message. When they get too low, they'll still record time but not speed/distance, I think.

Not sure how I would determine if I run with a long stride or a fast cadence stride and does the edge or sky really make a difference in either stride?

Metaspeed SKy + more to Alphafly comparable? and Edge+ more to Vaporfly?
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
Hey Alex, possibly so. I've (Mike) just bought a pair of Alphafly, to compare, so keen to see how the Sky+ matches up to it
@adamfeerst25752 жыл бұрын
Might the Edge+ have been better for you for a 5km? Were they available there? Did anyone wear them for the race?
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam (Mike here), possibly so, though we didn't get those to try out. Hopefully we'll get a pair in to compare. Also transpired afterwards I had quite bad heatstroke from the day before so not sure a different pair of shoes would've offered different results!

@@TheRunTesters You mentioned needing to work to engage them. I have a powerful toe-off and flexible ankles, so I think shoes like these and the Saucony EPs work better for me (I run in both). I haven't run in the flies, just jumped in them in a running store, and found them too squishy. Similar to how I found the Rebels. I have a friend who likes the Rebels and Nikes and dislikes the Asics. I have another friend and competitor (only in the sense that we are on competing teams in Colorado, do some of the same races, but he's a lot faster) who bounds like a deer when he runs. He loves Nikes and has set records in them (60+ world record mile, 4:49). The only way I can make the Rebel's work for me is if I run slow and on my heels. I can do that, but that's not my natural style.

Those shoes look like something Santa's elves might wear 🎅. Kudos to Asics marketing for targeting social influencers. I think if they cam drop their prices 15% they could have a winner

Oompah Loompah shoes. Clog crossed with a rocking chair. Horrible. Simply pair these with the right 2 in 1 shorts to look a complete twat and add to the comedy of runners fashion.
