The TR versions of the GT-2000 and Novablast are some of my favorite shoes. I use both of them on California fire roads and mildly-technical trails. Perfect for runnable trails. My favorite trail half marathon finishes with a 2 mile road section, so I still need a shoe I can hammer some speed into. The TR shoes strike the perfect balance.

i was honestly apprehensive on the novablast 4 cause every influencer on youtube was gargling how amazing it is as a daily running shoe. i wasn't going to buy it but then saw it on sale at a running store and picked it up. the next day i ran in it raw, no break-in or anything for an hour and i was actually echoing what all these running influencers were saying about it to other runners i know lol the novablast is just such an amazing platform asics made, perfect price point, perfect balance between speed and stack, perfect for everyday runners. for price, i really think nothing beats the novablast

The Trail Ready - TR - versions are 'Road to Trail' shoes at best. I have the TR version of the Nimbus and I love them, but for the road and dry, hard packed groomed trails only.

@@emiyasaif4151 so I went to JackRabbit/Fleetfeet here in NYC and got fitted for a shoe. Based on those results I tried on the ASICS Nimbus 26, Brooks Ghost Max 2 and out of curiosity I tried on the ASICS novabkast 5. The NB5 are sooooo much better than the NB4s! They almost feel like my Nike Invincible 3s. Since they felt similar and the traction issue on the NB5s weren’t resolved I got the Ghost Max 2s. The Ghost Max 2s feel AMAZING! They look clunky and heavy but they’re actually pretty light. They also have a nice rocker movement that helps you propel forward while running compared to NB5 and Nimbus 26. I have “rectangular” almost wide feet and I put more pressure on my forefoot. My foot is on the high end of regular D width.

42:52 Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but I recommend running on the opposite of the road if you're going to run on a road with no shoulder space. Much safer as it gives you time to react and directly see if a car is coming up and how close they are to your path

Yeah good shout. I generally do that but there was a mean corner on the left side with zero visibility at that part of the road so I had to run with the flow of traffic there to see around the corner (otherwise would be running blind into potential oncoming traffic)

Glowing review to match the teal. I'll have to consider it. I wonder how it will compare to the Glycerin 22, which is similar and slightly heavier, probably due to the more robust outsole. Please protect your fingers. I got chilblains a couple of years ago and it took months to heal.

Following your reviews since half a year. They get better and better. So are my decisions which shoe is next haha. I just bought the SL2 as my new daily trainer due to reviews. But for longs run (up to HM and maybe marathon distance in 2025) which shoe for a taller guy like me 6‘3 200lbs is the better long run option, EVO SL or NB5? Cheers from Hamburg, GER.

I have the trail version of 4 and rubber is grippier I think as well as lugged . If you don’t mind slight weight gain I suggest tr version for winter wet dirty roads and light trails gravel roads . Hopefully new 5 tr version will be the same . However, I am not a light Runner so might just skip this if it got softer.

Same for me. When i got back into running this april, after much research and consideration, i got the NB4 TR right away. I mean, if the TR exist, there is no need for the "regular" NB. For what? 15g? Doesn't make ANY sense to me! Btw, I don't know how the laces are on the NB4, but I LOVE the laces on my NB4 TR :)

Nice video! I have the Asics Gel Kayano 30, which has fantastic stability and correction. Essentially solved my repetitive ankle injury issue because of the way I land my foot. Would you suggest this for someone coming from that model if I want a second pair ?

Ahh, yes. Trying to be bold with the thin gloves in the winter. I think we’ve all been there lol All that aside though, slightly disappointed to hear that the grip is still a weakness of the shoe. I have thought about the Novablast multiple times but repeatedly get cold feet because of the grip not being good. I wanna be able to use my daily trainer or long run shoe rain or shine.

I think landrace means it's an Ethiopian coffee that hasn't been genetically typed as a unique strain. Ethiopia is generally believed to be the origin of most arabica coffees in cultivation, and there are extremely high levels of genetic diversity among the native coffees from there. So it's very difficult to identify distinct strains among coffees under cultivation there, and most of them are just all lumped together as 'Ethiopian landrace.'

I do one every ~30 minutes. I alternate caffeine and non caffeine for hard efforts. But I wouldn't suggest doing more than 2 caffeine in one run. Message me on the app with your run details and I can help you out!

Def half size up in the Metaspeed sky! The upper isn't super narrow (the unstable foam in the heel is but that's a different story) but the length is just short. It's one of the only shoes where I jam up against the front of the toebox

@@supwell Probably to cash in good reviews it was always the plan. Or, they thought that it they tweak ahar-lo, it is good enough for the Novablast and a good upgrade (through the change in geometry of the rubber) anyway, so save the better rubber for the more expensive shoes. I was also thrilled about getting the Superblast rubber pieces on the Novablast. But: meh. Anyway: if you look at the Novablast 3 and the improvement to NB4, NB4 TR and now NB5, the improvement is HUGE! :)

I'd get this for sure as an upgrade to the bondi. It's a lot lighter and more fun. Glycerin max is awesome too but the novablast will be a lot more versatile - so I'd go novablast for sure if you have one shoe for all your running

This is what I don’t understand or accept about Asics. Instead of providing good grip for Novablasts and making a GTX version too they keep making them with poor grip and a TR version which is to me stupid. A true TR running shoe has to be 100% TR with great stability and grip. I’m getting two pairs anyway. One for do it all one pair for long runs.
