Kalasan Temple is a Buddhist temple in Kalasan District, Yogyakarta Special Region. This temple was restored by the Dutch East Indies government in 1927 and 1929. Because so many of the temple stones were lost, not all of this temple could be restored to its original form. For example, the row of stupas surrounding it. Even so, this temple has its own beauty because of its quite large size and detailed and complicated carvings.
The sculptors of Kalasan Temple were probably very skilled at building temples. Even though it is considered the earliest temple built in the Medang Kingdom, Kalasan Temple shows a high artistic taste, not inferior to the temples built later, for example Prambanan and Borobudur. It could be said that Borobudur and Prambanan are less old than this temple.
It turns out that there are many unique facts about Indonesian history that are worth looking at, of course from a new perspective. For example, about Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms in Indonesia, Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms in the archipelago, ancient Javanese philosophy, ancient Javanese philosophy, even Javanese habits in ancient Javanese culture, both in the form of writing and temples.
