I'm currently a 3rd sem student at NIFT Delhi, what tips can you give for clearing the 1st Round at NIFT and what should our portfolio portray exactly? What kind of questions are asked in the on spot examination and how can I prepare for it? I currently have a CGPA of 8.6 from my first year, is that considered to be good or does it put me low in the list of applicants? And lastly is there any preference of campus or does it all depend on your portfolio?

Yes, you will have to give an english proficiency test - IELTS or TOEFL as a requirement from FIT. You can check the FIT website for the minimum score required to qualify.

No, you don't need to pay any NIFT fees for third year if you're studying at FIT.

For your third year - You will not be paying NIFT's fee, You will pay one year FIT fee.

For the dual degree program - You will do your associates degree at FIT for one year in your third year. You will have to come back to NIFT to complete your undergraduation (forth year).
