i just got engaged after 10 years 6 months i just asked him why hes not asked and we talked about it, a year later i got a very nice surprise on holiday and hope to be married next year. you just need to talk to your partner. if you dont see it every happening and he argues or changes the subject you need to bite the bullet and leave you cant change someone as much as you may think you can. either hes in it for the long haul or not.

My advice was assuming that conversations had occurred & still no commitment to being married was made. If a man hasn't proposed - and there has been enough discussions, hints & time gone by- than hell yes- she has every right to want to break up with him & move on in life. And why not make him jealous before that- could be the last chance he'd get to wake up. Break up or stay while all her friends are getting married & starting families with men who are committed to them- It's straight forward

Snappy Chappy It is possible that he uses the excuse for himself or others, especially possible girlfriends, that he's not married, so he's not cheating by going out on her. Might be that he figures if he gets caught, at least he won't have to go through a divorce. Might be he figures that if he meets Ms Right, he will be ready to marry the new girl, Ms Right.

If I waited for my man to make a grand gesture like a surprise marriage proposal, it never would have happened. I don't like surprises & I'm not incapable of asking him to marry me, so I asked him how he felt about getting engaged, & got myself a ring, & we discussed when is a good time to get married, & we figured it all out-- TOGETHER. We've been married for over 3 years now & been together for almost 8, & we are happy. I don't expect him to be something he isn't. Ladies, speak up or grow up.

J Q Clearly you didn't understand why neither of them wanted to marry. She said because they each had a child. So for those of you who don't get that, someday when they die, they each want their inheritance, no matter the amount, to rightfully go to their child, even if their children are adults. They are putting their children first. It's great when original parents have a good enough relationship to stay together for the rest of their lives, then all inheritance goes to their children naturally. They are doing the right thing by their children they brought into this world. Another option is to marry after they each get a prenup and will stating that what they each came into the marriage with, goes to their children. What she desires is a promise ring, no big.
